My xbox will let me type, but wont let me enter what i type

Okay, so I go to play Ark, everything loads, ho to the server screen, find my server, select it to enter the password, and the keyboard pops up, lets me select the letters, i hit enter, and it doesnt actually enter anything into the text field for the password
so i can hit accept, it leaves it blank. I tried using my xbox companion, same issue, lets me type, shows what i type, but when i hit enter, it wont enter the text into the box for me to hit accept. Tried other search bars on my xbox, same thing, so its not
the game. Everywhere will pop up the keyboard and let me type, but when i hit enter, it wont transfer what i enter to the text field box. Never had this issue before, nothing plugged into my xbox except the same ext hd ive always had, nothings been changed,
no new anything. Worked yesterday, not today.

I did notice that xbox is currently having a core service issue regarding creating new accounts, and changing gamertags...any possibility that this could SOMEHOW be related??
