My Xbox was stolen a couple years ago, is there anyway to recover my old account?

i had an old gamertag i would like to recover a couple years ago they told me they could not do that and were basically unable to purge the system i gave them all my info but they said that when my xbox live account was cancelled, that i could not use that
gamertag again does anyone know if this has changed?

It was my first gamertag that I had on Xbox a couple of years ago I changed it I never stopped using the account so it wouldn’t be associated with an old account

Since it's so old...there is no way to recover it because there is no Windows Live ID (Microsoft Account) associated with it. I have an account that I'd like to recover as well from years ago, but it's lost.

I'm afraid it's gone for good my friend.
