My Xbox turns itself off after I get on the menu screen of a disc game

I can understand you don't want to factory reset the console but I think this is what you need to try. Don't worry though as there's an option to keep your installed games and apps so you won't need to redownload them and your saves will be safe on the
Cloud.

If the console still acts up after this you may need to see about having it repaired or replaced

Are you having trouble with just one game on disc or are you having trouble with multiple discs. It sounds like it could either be a bad disc if it's just that game or if it's multiple it may be the laser reader itself. You may be able to find one of those
laser disc cleaners to make sure there isn't any dust on the laser.

It is multiple discs, do you know where I could get a laser disc cleaner?

Have you enabled FreeSync on the monitor itself? It is OFF by default, and needs to be turned on in the Monitors On Screen Menu.

After it is enabled on the monitor the Xbox One X should recognize the capability (May require restart after enabling on the monitor)

My Xbox One dimmed the screen last night, and then turned itself off after an hour of being dimmed. I had it sitting on the Ryse pause menu, and was out of the room. I don't think the screen dims while you're in sight of the Kinect, because I noticed if
I left the room for 15-20 minutes and walked back in, the screen would brighten back up.
