My Xbox shut off!

This is the third time this has happened! I'm playing a game when suddenly the whole system shuts down on it's own without anyone touching it, OR the power box! Up until that happens, there is no indication that it would crash or any errors popping up and
it turns off randomly!

FEATURE REQUEST: Xbox One shutting off TV only on request

Hello!

It's very useful having a "shut off TV" option when Xbox is shutting off… But sometime I want only shut off my Xbox not my TV!

So should be very useful, when I long-press the X button, that the XBox will presents 3 buttons: "Shut off Xbox", "shut off Controller", and "Shut off Xbox and TV".

Xbox One Sleep Timer

I have mine set to shut off after an hour.

Then again, my television and my Xbox are in the living room. When I go to bed, I just shut it off. Bedroom is for sleeping. And sex.

 

When your Xbox shuts off what are you doing? Is your Xbox in an entertainment center? It's possible your Xbox is over heating. If it is sitting near something that is warm, not enough room to ventilate, in an enclosed space. It may be getting too warm. Another
thing is the outlet that it is plugged into may be faulty. I have a power strip where if I plug my Xbox in, it randomly shuts off.

Second, check your power box, Make sure it isn't over heating as well. Make sure it has plenty of room to breath and ventilate. Also check your cords, make sure there isn't any damage to it.

 

I was playing ZAT, hardly the most taxing game, and it's sitting in the open on a grated shelf so there is plenty of air flow, so I hope it isn't overheating. Besides, my PS4 has been sitting on the same shelf for over a year and it's never overheated. My
PS4, Xbox and TV are all plugged into the same power strip and that is connected to a UPS and none of those have failed.

 

Hi, can you connect the Xbox power supply directly to the mains power outlet and see how things go, it may be that the UPS is dropping the supply voltage by sufficient that the Xbox powers off.

 

It's been running fine for the past month without issue, in addition to my PS4 and TV. It feels hotter than normal after it crashes, I think it may be an issue with an internal fan or something else of the sort.

 

I have heard of this issue from others.

More then likely it is your power brick failing. It has happened to me a few times but thankfully only when watching Netflix. Only solution I know of is getting a new power supply.

 

I'm honestly annoyed with Microsoft on this. I had the Xbox 360 pro forever and hardly had to get it repaired.

I have had to send in my Xbox One roughly 5 times with this very issue. What's really frustrating is I just received my Xbox One back from repairs roughly 12 hours ago. My console hasn't stayed on for more than an hour today. Within the last hour it's actually
turned itself off more than ten times. I wouldn't be so frustrated if the console didn't just come back from being repaired. The sad part is the problem is actually significantly worse now. Yes, I've tried all the trouble shooting too.

omegaman255, do you have decent air flow around your Xbox One? Make sure it's in a completely open area. Also, if you haven't tried, please see if a different wall outlet helps. Let us know.
