My XBox Series X won’t finish its update

How long should this process take I have left it alone for upwards of an hour and assumed it was not going to restart

Plugging it in to the wall solved my problem thank you very much for your time

It should not take an hour to restart. Usually a couple of minutes at most from the end of Verifying to the start of Applying update.

Are you using WiFi (wireless) or ethernet cable (wired) to connect to your network hardware?

Also connect the console power to a wall socket, not a power board if you are using one.

After the Verifying stage of the update the console will shut down and restart to Apply the update.

On a Series X you should see the Xbox button flash about 5-6 times as it restarts before the screen will go blank and then a few seconds later the console will restart so the update can be Applied.

Don't interrupt this process by manually restarting the console. If you do interrupt this process the update will download and verify again, and then do a automatic restart so it can Apply the update. Be patient while it completes and returns to the sign-in screen.
