My Xbox Series x isn’t recognizing 120 hertz on my new Samsung tv

The Samsung TU7000 series is an entry level Smart TV. The Motion Rate' you refer to is only for video playback, it smooths out the playback of fast action sequences, it's not a gaming feature.

Your TV is a 60Hz display that uses HDMI 2.0, true 120Hz displays are HDMI 2.1.

Press and hold the console power button until the console turns off, remove the HDMI cable and power cord from the console for about 1 minute. After 1 minute plug everything back in, turn on the console and try again.

Also, check if your TV's firmware is up to date and it is possible that not all HDMI ports on your TV have 120hz support, check which port supports 120hz.

If the problem still persists reset the console to factory defaults, you won't lose anything but you will need to log in with your account again. Email and password are required.

Follow this path and select reset keeping games and app.
In 5 to 10 minutes you will finish reconfiguring your console

To reset the console>
Settings> System> Console Info> Reset Console

***Do not reset your console without having your account email and password.***

As above, budget TVs have tricks for the manufacturers to make you think you have a better TV...a true 120Hz TV of that size is $1000+ still

it only happens to the Xbox X series + Samsung TV. I have Xbox one and a sony TV as well. I tried Xbox X series + Sony TV and Xbox one + Samsung TV. both work...

Same issue since day one release. I have yet to get this to work with my Series X. I just shipped my Series X back today for GPU failure.

This feature still works fine with my Xbox One X Scorpio Edition.

Also on your Samsung TV, did your input change from the green Xbox to the blue generic "Game Console"? Mine did as if the TV does not recognize the device as an Xbox console. I can switch it out with my Xbox One X and the input icon changes back to the green Xbox.
