My Xbox Series X is being extremely slow and sluggish

My XBOX Series X is extremely slow. Both external hard drives have been quiet like theyre not connected. Ive tried everything from clearing my MAC address to removing my profile. Unplugging everything and hard reboots. Im trying to run an old game (fallout 4) and it just drags. Often it gives me the notification that the game has taken too long. “Something went wrong” etc.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

The issue can be with the Xbox console itself or one of your external hard drives (they may be corrupted). Kindly unplug both external hard drives and then perform a powercycle on your console before attempting to play a game or test if the same issue will occur.

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

Please keep the external hard drives unplugged to test it out.

If the same issue occurs even if the external hard drives are unplugged, let's then reset your console keeping your games and apps. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps.

Hello, thank you for your assistance! I did all this and it helped, but I figured out the actual problem — I had too many games on my internal HD 🤣

A Hard boot and Shutdown of the Xbox One can take a while, This explains the slow boot and shutdown.

In regards to the sluggishness etc. Could this be caused by your monitor not being powerful enough for your X-Box One Console? I have had issues with my old monitor in the past when trying to use an old/less powerful monitor with a newer/more powerful Desktop
PC, This could be a similar issue?

Maybe try your Xbox on another TV and see if the issue is the same?

- Open the Xbox Guide by pressing the guide button on the controller and select Settings.

- Select Network Settings.

- Select Advanced Settings.

- Under Change Settings select Alternate MAC Address.

- Select Clear.

- Allow the console to restart when prompted.

- Check if the problem persist
