My Xbox Series X Controller causes a BSOD when connecting via bluetooth

i have suddenly had this issue where my PC randomly started boot looping. i thought it was some overheating issue but then It works again perfectly fine. then I got to play a game so I turn on my controller and wait for it to connect. as soon as it does I get a BSOD with a System service exception or something similar what steps should it take.

this only happens when connecting via bluetooth

I have updated the drivers on via USB but that still doesn't fix the issue

EDIT: I tried simply disconnecting it and repairing on Bluetooth and it works fine but later the same issue happened again

    :)

My Xbox Series X Controller causes a BSOD when connecting via bluetooth

Hi there! This is Virginia O.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with your controller connected via bluetooth to your PC.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please update bluetooth drivers. To do this, open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager). Expand Bluetooth.

Right-click your Bluetooth device such as Intel/Wireless Adapter and choose Update Driver. Select Search Automatically for Updated Drivers.

And then remove and reinstall the controller’s bluetooth device by going to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices. Remove your Xbox controller from the list of paired devices. Restart your PC and re-pair the controller.

Next is update Windows. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Install all pending updates, including optional updates.

Then install Xbox Accessories App because this app can help configure the controller and ensure proper integration. Please download the Xbox Accessories App from the Microsoft Store. Connect your controller via USB and ensure it’s properly recognized within the app. Re-pair the controller over Bluetooth and test for stability.

After that is perform system file checks because a corrupted system files can cause BSOD errors. To do this, open Command Prompt as Administrator.

    Run the following commands:

    sfc /scannow

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Restart your PC after the scans complete.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly test on another PC to rule out hardware issues. Please connect your Xbox controller via Bluetooth to another PC or device. If it works fine elsewhere, the issue is likely PC-specific.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

How to use Xbox Elite Series 2 audio jack while wirelessly connected to Win 10 PC?

    Hi,

The 3.5mm headphone jack on Xbox One/Series X|S controllers (including Elite controllers) does not work when connected via Bluetooth. It will only work via USB or the official Xbox wireless adaptor.

Adapter Xbox 360 for PC and new controller.

    Hi,

    I’m Killing Skids

The Answer Is Yes as Long As it has Bluetooth or wireless connection
    Hi,

That's not quite right. Apologies for quoting you.

The Xbox 360 controller uses a proprietary wireless technology, it's not Bluetooth and the old adaptors won't work with a modern controller like the Xbox One or Series X|S controllers.

Unlike Xbox 360 wireless controllers, Xbox One and Series controllers can also be connected via USB cable. Old Xbox One controllers use Micro USB, Series Controllers are USB C.

To use an Xbox One/ Series controller via wireless on a PC and get basic functionality, all you need to do is connect the controller via Bluetooth. If your PC doesn't have Bluetooth then you'll need to buy a Bluetooth USB dongle, they're very cheap, less than $10. I'm from the UK and I connect my Series X controller to my PC via BT dongle I purchased from Amazon for about £5.

For extra wireless features you'll need the Xbox One Wireless Adaptor for Windows 10. Unfortunately, the official Microsoft branded adaptors are now quite rare.

Why can't I pair up Bluetooth wireless earbuds with my console?

it uses wifi that the xbox has a receiver and sender for, similar to the microsoft pc wireless adapter but obviously built into the console.

no bluetooth at all. there is not a single bluetooth chip in the console, the modern xbox controller connect via wifi to the console or bluetooth to phones and pc if not using the adapter for pc. only the controller has bluetooth and this is basic at best.

Does the Xbox Series X or Series S support Bluetooth? | Windows Central

No Bluetooth for Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X doesn't have Bluetooth, similarly to the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X. The reason is simple; the Bluetooth signal isn't strong enough to meet Microsoft's specifications for latency. Microsoft uses its proprietary signal, dubbed Xbox Wireless, for connecting controllers and other accessories, like the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and the SteelSeries 9X wireless headsets.

Microsoft's signal is far stronger than Bluetooth. Since many people typically game while sitting far away from their consoles in the living room or so on, Bluetooth's susceptibility to interference increases exponentially at longer ranges. If you were hoping you could use a USB Bluetooth adapter, it wouldn't work either, as the Xbox Series X and other Xbox One consoles don't have the drivers necessary to power them.

Adaptador Windows para controle Xbox Series S/X

    Hello,

There isn't a specific adaptor for the Series X/S controllers for PC. The current adaptor works just fine with these newer controllers, however it is now in very short supply. There are third party ones available that do the same thing.

The Xbox 360 wireless controllers use a different WIFI protocol, they need their own Xbox 360 wireless Gaming Receiver.

Xbox One and Series X/S controllers can be connected to PC via Bluetooth, but headsets will only work with the Xbox One adaptor (or a third party version), they won't work when the controller is connected via BT
