My Xbox Series S Won't Connect to internet (wireless or wired) during Initial Setup

My Xbox Series S was reset to factory settings, but will not let me get past the "Checking for Updates" screen. It gives me error code: 0x8B050084 0x00000000 0x00000201.

I have tried using a wired internet connection, Wireless Internet connection (no wireless networks display), and I have also tired another reset. I have also tried using the OSU to update the xbox offline. None of these fixes have worked.

The wired connection looks like it connects successfully, but will not proceed with the update.

My internet connection works on my other xbox, so I am at a loss.

Any ideas on what to try next?

Hi Rocco, my name is Joel, I'm here to help you with any problems or questions you may have.

Rocco, if your console fails to connect via ethernet cable and when you try to connect it wirelessly it does not detect any network that already indicates a failure in the console's network card. It even indicates that it tried an offline update via USB and still does not manage to solve the problem, I am afraid that your console will require to be checked by the Technical Service, since the offline update is the last step to be carried out before requiring service.

Are you using a wired or wireless internet connection?

Try a wired connection (ethernet cable) to your network hardware and restart the console. It should connect and do the required OS update.

If wireless choose a factory refresh of the console. After the refresh is complete, input the console setup details again.

Same thing is happening to me my Xbox one s won't connect to my internet but will connect to a hotspot or being hard wired but still won't connect to the wireless after doing all the steps

Xbox series s, wired, or my brand new un used wireless controller that came with the console, it doesn’t matter, and a wired steel series headset. I have not changed the setup in a couple years

Yea - After you have done the initial setup!

"To enter a static IP address press the menu button" - The Menu Button was totally inactive during the first setup phase in both wireless and wired setup. The on screen menu option "Advanced" became available when using a wired connection only. Then all
configurations could be entered.
