My xbox sea gate hard drive keeps disconnecting

so if this is an external hard drive change ports and restart (if needed do factory reset keeming all apps nd games) if internal do factory reset keeping all apps and games. if that dont work idk

I'll recommend you do a power cycle to clear the system cache

- Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

- Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 2 minutes.

- Plug the console power cable back in. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on and check if it's all good.

If that doesn't help, I'll suggest you try doing a factory reset keeping games and apps on your console. This will refresh the console and remove all potential bugs without deleting any game data.

- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

- Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

- Select Reset console.

- Choose Keep Games and Apps

Once that is done, you'll need to sign into the console using your Microsoft account credentials. If the issue is with your console, that should fix it.

When you mean drive do you mean the whole external hard drive? Ive ordered a new hard drive today but im staying clear of sea gate from now on and when the shops re open im going to hopefully take it in and get it exchanged or my money back

Try this, on the console when you are on the main menu, press and HOLD 10 sec the powerbutton of the console, wait 30 sec, UNPLUG the external hard drive, restart the console. Finally, turn off the console and replug the external hard drive, turn on console,
does it work ?

If not, its due to the usb 3.0 cable in many cases… I had that issue in the past with a Toshiba 2TB, i changed the usb 3.0 cable with a new one and all was perfect after

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your hdd.

You may have already tried this but if not it is a good place to start. Try doing a full power cycle of the the console by shutting down first then unplugging the the power cord. Wait 5 mins and power it backup.

When you shut down normally it just goes into standby by power cycling it does a full shut down and clears the cache.
