My Xbox says it needs a system update, but it won't download

Recently for some random reason, my Xbox refuses to download the update.

I've tried everything, I tried reformatting my storage, deleting profiles, trying to get the update via USB and NOTHING.

One status code that keeps popping up is: 42FE-0000-3080-0508-8007-045D.

Getting extremely frustrated.

Problems with Netflix app

I have been trying to watch Netflix on my Xbox 360. It says Netflix needs an update, but when I try to download it I am logged out of Xbox live and it won't download.

I Cannot Connect To Xbox Live

It still won't allow me to download the profile because it says there is a system update available from Xbox Live, but I cannot connect to Live, therefore I cannot download the update. What should I do? Any help appreciated.

Hey FruitfulLight6!

That code means that a storage device was not found during the attempt to update.

Try the following steps:

• Turn off your console

• Disconnect all storage devices such as USB drives, memory units, and your external/internal hard drives. You can view how to remove the Original Xbox's external HDD and the 360 E and S's internal HDD here.

• Connect only your primary storage device (usually your console's hard drive)

• Turn on the console and try your update again

Also...when I reboot the box it takes a long time to come to the dashboard and often times won't launch into my profile (my profiles won't even be there). Instead, it says that a system update is needed. I usually have to reboot a second time to get it to
launch in to my dashboard. Again, this hasn't happened before since the digital download.

I'm having the same problem. Won't let me connect to Live or download system update. Xbox says my profile and memory are corrupted. Don't know what to do. I've tried everything suggested.

When I get a certain sites, even Microsoft support page it says my browser needs updating to use this page then it offers me different versions of the update but then says Xbox won't allow me to download it to a local storage, which is the same one the
app is on.

i'm having the same problems on my second xbox as well, it says my Live membership is invalid. when i try to download my profile i ger a system update is required, but update is currently unavailable. need help.
