  1. My Xbox says I don’t own a game I bought

I recently damaged my Xbox Series X, so I’ve been using my old Xbox One in the meantime. There has been an issue with multiple games that I most definitely purchased and own digitally where it will give me one of two error messages. Here are the two error messages and the games that I receive them from, if that means anything to you:

Do you own this game or app?

If you have a game disc, insert it now. If you bought this online, make sure you’re signed in. If you don’t have rights for playing it, you’ll need to get it at the Microsoft Store. (0x803f8001)

    Games with this error message:

    Jurassic World: Evolution

    Madden NFL 18

    ARCADE GAME SERIES: DIG DUG

    ARCADE GAME SERIES: GALAGA

    ARCADE GAME SERIES: PAC-MAN

Do you own this game or app?

If you have a game disc, insert it now. If you bought this online, make sure you're signed in. If you don't own this game or app, or if it's a trial that has expired, you can buy it from the Microsoft Store. You may be seeing this message because the account that owns this content might have assigned a different console as their home Xbox. (0x82d40003)

    Games with this error message:

    Forza Horizon 3

    Forza Motorsport 6

In the My Games and Apps screen, all of these games have the little triangle caution ️ symbol. All of my games that I have on disc (which are none of the games listed above) have a similar symbol accompanied by a disc symbol. I assume this is because I don’t have a disc in my Xbox. However, another game that I own, Fallout Shelter, has the same symbol as the games listed above, yet I can still play it with no issues, as far as I can tell. Minecraft also wouldn’t launch, but I repurchased it on the Microsoft Store, and I can play it again. The games with issues (as well as the disc ones) do not appear in my Owned Games screen, nor do they appear in My Library on the Xbox mobile app. I’ve tried so many different solutions to this problem, but so far, nothing has worked. I used Jurassic World: Evolution to test solutions, since that’s the game I’ve been wanting to play. Before you ask, yes, I am signed in on the account that purchased the games, and I switched my home Xbox to my Xbox One before trying anything else. I have uninstalled the game, restarted my console, and reinstalled the game. I have checked my purchase history, and the record of my purchases has seemingly disappeared. In the Microsoft Store, it asks me to buy to own the game. I have what I believe is definitive proof that I did at one point own the game, which is that I have many achievements from it, and there was no free trial or demo. I did not own Game Pass during the time when I got the achievements, so as far as I’m aware, the only explanation is that I purchased and owned the game. With that in mind, I would very much like some answers and/or advice so that I didn’t waste my money.

    Edit 1:

I tested a few of my disc games, and I am confident that the error symbol is only the result of the disc not being in the Xbox. I am currently redownloading Forza Motorsport 6 to see if that fixes the issue.

    Edit 2:

As of now, redownloading Forza Motorsport 6 has been unsuccessful. I tried launching it when it said “ready to start” and received the following error message:

    Something went wrong

Wait a minute or so, then try again. If it still doesn’t work, select Help for more to try. (0x800705b4)

I plugged the error code into the Xbox Support app, which told me that removing and adding my account from the Xbox may fix the issue. I did that, but nothing happened, as far as I can tell. I will try again when the game is fully downloaded.

    :)

Bought a game and says I don’t own it

Hello MakennaPluymers, I hope everything is going well!

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support!

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps here:

After each step try to see if the issue is fixed!

First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm.

Then, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, until the console shuts off, then unplug the power cord and wait for 2-3 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the Xbox.

If the issue persists, please select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps

I wish you a lovely day, and I hope this helps you out!

    Kind Regards

    Stay safe, and happy gaming!

the awesome ray tracing patch, lol. Xbox can barely do raytracing, when it does its so slight it's hardly noticeable.

In the case of.motorsport you would.have to reinstall as it's likely to be next gen patched

I bought a game but the microsoft store says I don’t own it

Hi and thanks for reaching out. I hope you’re doing well. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I'll be happy to help you.

If you have purchased a game on your Xbox using gift cards and the Microsoft store is still showing that the game needs to be purchased again, it could be an issue with the game's license or your Xbox account.

We need to verify if your transaction for the game is successful by signing in at https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders. If it's successful and is showing as "Completed", it means you have a license for the game.

Kindly try signing out of your account on your device, restarting your device, and then signing back in.

Xbox says I don’t own game.

horizon 2, you would not get a refund and you would not be able to get a code to download, if you own it it will be in your ready to install section.

This game can no longer be purchased as it has been delisted and removed from sale. unless you find a disc.
