My Xbox One X won't output picture unless I stream to my PC and fiddle with settings

It is not the HDMI cables or monitor, I've tried different cables and different displays. It's either the software or hardware.

Basically, the console will turn on and the monitor will recognise it as turning on and will turn on in turn. But then it goes to no signal received. Every time this happens I have to stream picture from my Xbox to TV via the Console Companion app, change a
setting (like hz) and change it back and the screen will refresh and the console will work again until I next turn it off.

I've tried hard resets, system updates (none), changing HDMI, changing displays, etc etc

It's definitely a software or hardware issue. Possibly due to being an insider? I've filed a report

EDIT: Fixed this by leaving Insiders on my console and installing update to revert it back to the non-insiders OS. It's a software issue

Sorry to hear you are having issues, I would recommend you take a look at the Troubleshooting a blank TV
screen or monitor while your Xbox One is on support page.

If its a hardware issue, you will need to request a repair from Device Services.

If it's due to the insider build then your only option right now may be to unenroll the console for now. It may be worth trying anyways to determine if it's indeed due to being in the insiders.

You may also want to try factory resetting it keeping games and apps. It could just be a glitch as well.

If nothing works then you may need to send the console in for repair. It may be something internal that's the issue.

I can answer my own question here that the Xbox One will stream at whatever resolution it is set to in the settings, so if I set the console to 720p it will stream at 720p. It isn't possible to pass a 720p signal out the HDMI output, but use a 1080p output
for streaming (unless you constantly change the settings back and forth).

The PC will scale to full screen no matter what, but 1080p looks much better than 720p on a 1080p monitor. The problem is if I set to 1080p when streaming to my PC and forget about it, then the next time when I try to use my TV I would get garbled graphics
because it can't accept the 1080p output, so I would need to go back upstairs and stream to my PC to reset the settings to 720p before I can use the TV again.

How I solved this problem was to use an HDFury 4S scaler to connect to my TV and scale the Xbox One down from 1080p to 1080i, which is the maximum resolution of my gaming TV. That allows me to keep the Xbox One console set on 1080p at all times.
