My Xbox One X refuses to recognize & play some 4k Ultra HD Blu Rays

I have a strange issue on my Xbox One X, i.e. specifically on the issue of 4k ultra hd blu ray disc recognition. I have the Game of Thrones 4k boxset & the console straight-up refuses to recognise the discs... except the final episode of each season. It's weird. I've looked around for similar issues online & some people have noted their Xbox has some sort of issue recognising certain discs, but what about failing to recognise some discs from the same boxset?

It's not a faulty collection either because my older Xbox One S plays all the discs without problem (but I'd obviously rather keep the One X hooked up to my 4k tv). I find it strange (& almost certainly not coincidental) that the console can play a disc with only one episode on it (which is episode 10 of season 1, 2 etc.) but the discs with multiple episodes (like 1, 2 & 3) won't play.

So my question is this: is it something to do with the amount of data on the disc? Is there a setting or something to fix this?

Although both the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X can both stream 4K, only the One X is capable of true 4K gaming. I would recommend the XBox One X over the XBox One S because it only one that can truly do 4K gaming! The XBox One S can upscale 1080p games
to 4K but isn’t a real 4K console, although it can play Blu-Ray in 4K. The XBox One X is the first console to truly be able to stream 4K gaming, plus it has a Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray player!

"Ultra HD" Blu-Rays will play in 4K. Standard Blu-Rays will play in 1080p.

The Xbox One S will only output to the highest resolution offered by the Blu-Ray disc it plays.

I suppose this design choice was in mind because 4K/UHD-TVs already process and upscale a lower resolution image to "cleanly" use all of the 3840x2160 pixels, so it's not putting unnecessary load on the Xbox One S CPU.

The Xbox One S fully complies with Ultra HD Blu-ray requirements; however, we are aware that a limited number of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray movie discs manufactured earlier in 2016 may not play on the Xbox One S. This issue has since been corrected, but if you
are experiencing a problem playing a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray movie disc, you can contact the customer service department of the title’s studio for support. Please note, your console does not need repair or further updates to resolve this particular disc issue.

Sounds like it may be having trouble with the third layer

The drive may be beginning to fail. Do not use any commercial cleaning discs, those do nothing and can damage the laser.
