    My Xbox One won't turn on after updating.


    My Xbox One updated this morning & shut itself off. It never turned back on & won't turn on at all now. I've held the power button for 5 seconds... then unplugged for 30 seconds & then plugged back in... but it still won't turn on. There is a solid
    orange light so the power brick is working. Any suggestions?

    Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently experiencing difficulties with being able to power on your console after an update.

    Have you had a chance to be able to try and power on your console via an alternate outlet?

    Are you able to at least boot-up your console into the
    Xbox Startup Troubleshooter    ?

    This can be done by following these simple steps:

    1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.
    2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
    3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
    4. Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the
      EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the
      Xbox button  on the console.
    5. Continue holding the BIND and
      EJECT       buttons for 10-15 seconds.
    6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
      BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

    You should be able to boot-up your console normally after that.

    Give this a try and let us know if this works for you!

    "It shut off half way through the update"

    This is normal behavior when doing an update.

    Be patient while the console restarts (+- a minute or two) and it will proceed and continue with the Applying stage of the update.

    If you need to restart console as it seems to be stuck, reset the console power supply by removing the power cord for a few minutes.

    When you restore power and turn it on, the console should continue with the update.

    Found the problem... it was the power brick. It had a solid orange light which I didn't know turns white when the Xbox is turned on. Talk to an Xbox tech over the phone & she told me that the light has to turn white when the Xbox power button is pushed.
    Used my son's power brick & the Xbox works fine. Just need to go buy a new power brick/electrical cord.
