Xbox App on Windows 10 can't even see Xbox One on Wired Home Network!

I've got a Windows 10 PC with a wired connection to my home router.

I got an Xbox One about 10 days ago, also with a wired connection to my home router.

For the first week, the Xbox App recognised my Xbox One and I was able to stream from the Xbox to the PC.

A few days ago, on starting up the PC and Xbox, the Xbox App could no longer see my Xbox One, even when I input the IP address.

Both devices, their wired connections, and the router, are working perfectly, apart from this glitch.

I have, of course, restarted the PC, the Xbox, and the router, but still nothing.

    Help, please.

  3. Gamestreaming on the Xbox app

I've Been trying to stream my Xbox to my pc but it lags way too much to be playable. Changing the quality doesn't make a difference. Both my Xbox and my pc(Windows 10) are up to date and have wired connections.

Game streaming resolution when TV is off or on different input

Here's some additional details for Microsoft. I am using two xbox ones and a windows 10 pc:

    - an original model xbox one connected to a 1080p tv and a wireless AC network connection

    - an xbox one S connected to a 4K tv and wired networking

    - windows 10 pc with a 1080p monitor and wired networking

Game streaming works perfectly to the original model xbox one with a wireless connection. From my windows 10 PC I can turn on the console, start streaming, and the resolution is great.

With the xbox one S though, even though I have a wired network connection to both the PC and that xbox, I will only be able to stream in 640x480 resolution unless I turn on the TV before I try to stream. I can also report that if I do turn on the TV first
and begin streaming in 1080p, I can then turn off the TV without affecting my 1080p streaming until I turn the xbox off.

This appears to be a bug for our particular configuration, and it's not getting any attention from Microsoft because their streaming test cases are passing. It could be a difference of original model xbox vs. xbox one S, but I'm expecting it has something
to do with the 4K display settings on the xbox, HDCP, and/or trying to stream to a lower resolution of 1080p.

Bug: Microphone doesn't work after disconnecting Windows 10 streaming

    Thank you Bestlano!

Another issue I'm running into with the headset adapter + windows 10 streaming:

I docked my surface pro 2 into the docking station, which has a wired PC microphone plugged in. When I start playing (Rainbow Six Siege), the game audio is coming through my headset adapter (via the Xbos Stereo Headset), but the Windows 10 Xbox app is utilizing
my wired PC microphone instead of the Stereo Headset/Headset Adapter. I can't figure out a way to force the streaming app to use the microphone plugged into my controller...

(not sure if I should document this issue in another thread)

It seems there may be some minor issues between the Windows 10 Xbox streaming application when used with the Xbox Headset Adapter.

Will i be able to run a remote desktop session from the XBOX X

This can be done between Windows 10 and an Xbox One console with more recent updates.

Note that this is currently, as of my post, in Beta. It also will require a decent network connection between the PC and the console (preferably an Ethernet connection though I've done it before over WiFi as
well). You will need an Xbox controller connected to the PC to control the console (I've used an Xbox 360 wired controller and it works just fine).

What you need is an Xbox One and a Windows 10 computer connected to the same network. Install the Xbox app from the Windows 10 app store. When it is installed, run it and log in. Look in the app for an icon
that looks like an Xbox One. Tap or click it and it will let you connect to an Xbox One on the network.

The console will initially have to be on so that it can find it on the network and register it with the app. You may also have to enable streaming in the Xbox One settings to allow this feature to work. After
it is registered with the PC, you can turn the console on by initiating a connection from the app.

Only some apps are allowed to stream to the PC. Notably, from my experience, you cannot watch TV or certain video content while streaming to the PC.

    hope this helps

    Xbox One Controller Extender

    Hello Matutu,

By USB adapter, you're talking about the one designed for Windows, right? The little USB dongle that plugs into a PC and allows controllers to connect wirelessly.

I don't *think* this works on the console itself, but I cannot be sure. I would advise against spending money on that as a solution in the way you describe.

However, there are a couple alternatives:

-- If you don't mind using the controller as a wired controller, you can run a USB from console to where you play and plug the controller in.

-- Alternatively, using a Windows 10 PC in the location you actually play, you can stream the Xbox One's video output to the PC, but, more importantly for you, you can stream controller inputs back from PC to Xbox One.

Elaborating on the Windows 10 example, even if you plan to play on a TV (directly connected via HDMI to the console, or however the setup is currently), you can have a Windows 10 PC in the room to which you stream the video output across the local network
(PC can be connected by wire to router for minimal latency), and to the PC you can either connect the controller by USB cable OR use the Wireless Adapter and have the controller connected to the PC wirelessly. In both cases, controller inputs go from Windows
10 PC back to console, and for video you could be looking at either your existing monitor or Windows 10 PC.

With the Windows 10 setup, with controller inputs and video output now being transmitted across the local network, you may introduce some latency to your gaming, but there's not really any good way to know before you try. If the PC is wired to the router,
the latency should be minimal, but I cannot say for certain. What I do know is that I have streamed the Xbox One video output to my own PC (both connected wirelessly to router) on the highest settings, with a controller connected via USB to console, and I
have not had any significant performance issues.

xbox one s - streaming to pc drops every 10 min.

Wireless network quality will have an impact on your game streaming experience. Try the following solutions in this order:

    1. If possible, connect both your Xbox One console and your PC over a wired Ethernet connection.
    2. If a wired connection isn’t possible, try lowering the quality level. For information on how to change your quality, see

How to use game streaming in the Xbox app on Windows 10
      .
    3. To try to improve your game streaming experience, see
Improve Xbox app for Windows 10 game streaming performance
      .
    4. Finally, try the Test streaming option for additional suggestions for your specific network configuration:
      • Select Connection, select your Xbox One console, and then select
Test streaming. The Xbox app will test the streaming connection and report its results.
