My xbox one wont' start up after the October 8 system update.

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand there are issues with the OS on your console. We recommend to try a

factory reset, or
offline update. These should resolve the issue you are experiencing. To get the troubleshoot menu for either try step 4 in the offline update.

1. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
   
2. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
3. Press and hold the BIND button (located below the Xbox button on the console) and the
   EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the
   Xbox button on the console.
   Note The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition does not have an
   EJECT button. You can bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter on this console by holding only the
   BIND button (steps 3 & 4) and then pressing the Xbox button
   .
   
4. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
   
5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
   BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.
6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

If you are using a wired ethernet cable to connect your console to your gateway, make sure you disconnect it while you perform the Offline
System update (OSU) and reconnect it once it has completed, to download the OS update required to bring the console up to date.

If you are in a Insider preview ring you must unenroll via the Hub prior to using OSU's.

Hi Brad

I"m sad to say that even the trouble shoot menu isn't working anymore. I offline update I get something went wrong. I factory reset same thing. What are the steps now? will a call to xbox help? Or should I take it someone to look at it. I'm not willing to
pay 300 to get this fixed. It's sad. But I understand that these electronics are just machines. Thanks for your help.

See my reply above, this is a Kinect issue, not about Cortana. The sensor no longer powers on when the Xbox One powers up, it used to and now it doesn't.

It's a result of the October update, so it needs to be fixed.

Correlation doesn't mean causation. It could just be a coincidence that your Kinect started malfunctioning after the October system update.

All I know is I have a Day One Xbox One (no Kinect adapter), and everything is still working for me after this update.
