My Xbox One was Stolen, can trace or block it ?

Good Morning Everyone,

My Xbox One was Stolen yesterday . I changed my password and removed all credit cards within my account .

But here's my doubt : Can Microsoft block or trace my console?

my sons xbox one was stolen and I was just wondering since it has to be connected to the internet to even be of use is there a way to trace its location or is there anyway to lock the console so that no one can use it???

Can anyone help me try to figure my situation out so someone broke into my place and stole my Xbox One , Is there anyway I could track down my Xbox or report it stolen? Cause the police won't help or if they try going online can Microsoft or Xbox trace the

If you know the serial # of the Xbox, you could call Xbox Support and try to have it traced. Also call to see if they could block access from your account if you do get it back.

There you can sign in and check your devices. There is a manage devices tile to check devices you have registered on your account. Maybe your serial number will show up there. Mine shows an Xbox One and a Kinect. I did not register the Kinect so maybe
that stuff shows up there when you first sign into your new xbox. My other 2 Xbox One consoles are not on there like the 360 consoles are (have 5 of those on there) but I did not sign in on those at first.

If you console is listed there they should be able to track it with the serial number. If you purchased any content and that was your home console that it was linked to that might show up as well but not sure how they do that.

MS needs to, if they do not have one, a tile that is on the main page when a console loads. And a notification to register your console. That way console registration is front an center for people. I know that registration is easy but some just never
really think of it and would if they had that little notification.

 

Once you have the serial number you must contact your police department

And then forward them to xbox support with the serial number

Thats all you can do as it is a police issue

 

Xbox support will not hand over ip or location information to anyone that is upto the police to retrieve

And is not actually recommended you even try

There was a case of an canadian tracing his phone and he was killed taking matters into his own hands rather then calling the police

All you should need to do is provide all the relevant details to the police.

They probably don't need telling but it wouldn't hurt to point out that your console is associated with your gamertag and that contacting Microsoft will allow them to see what console has been associated with your gamertag and allow them to check if that
same console is now in use anywhere else.

This is done through Microsoft's Police Liaison Team which is a special department that deals exclusively with police enquiries.

 

They caught a murdering dbag on PS4 a few months ago, he stole the system from his victim and they caught him through that. Yes they can track it if they want to. But they wont because theres nothing in it for them.

 

I had no idea MS even had a police liaison team, let alone the fact that they would (I know that they could) track down a console's assigned Gamer Tag [and vice versa] and see if the console is currently active.

Great information to know... hopefully most of us will never need to utilize it.

No one is tracking your console. The police are busy solving murders and rapes and stuff.
