  2. Xbox One not tracking time played.

My Xbox One stopped tracking my time played about two or more months ago, and my new games are not tracking time played at all.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, were you able to fix it?

Please help, this is getting very frustrating. Xbox support on Twitter could not help.

    Thanks.

Hmm... This is a very big problem. I just don't get why it's doing it. I'm hoping they'll fix it with the update coming this month, but we shall see. Something else I have also noticed is that the time on my Smartglass is sometimes different to that on my
    console.

Heathen Baboon, yes, i noticed it too, but it's usually one hour difference, maybe because when you played 1 hour and 56 minutes dashboard interprets it as 2 hours but smartglass app interprets it as 1 hour or vice versa.

New update that just come out have not fixed the issue, sing-out trick is still the only way to track played time.

This is very depressing to hear! I started having the same problem, too, as of the June update from what it seems. I've heard issues here and there of people having time tracking issues in the EARLY months of release, but mine has always tracked flawlessly
since I got it over three months ago. But the first time I played a game in June, two of them actually, neither one tracked time. The only fix I've found is the one described above: signing out of my profile from the game's main menu. I'm lucky to be the type
that usually just plays one game per day, but for people that play loads of them in one sitting: this would be like torture.

My hope was that this was unique to some of the newer-released games, like Another World and Sixty Second Shooter - but testing out on Titanfall or Dead Rising 3 (games that used to track fine for me,) the time won't capture anymore unless I do the sign-out
from the game's main menu. The way the servers seem to track time is by generating a "now playing" status at two points. One is when you boot a game up, the other is when you close a game out. Sort of like two bookends. And after the June update, it doesn't
seem to be generating the second bookend when you "exit app" anymore.

You can check this by looking at your friends list's activity feed. It used to say that you were "now playing such and such game" when you booted it up and then say it again when you booted down. I always thought it was weird seeing the second bookend saying
"Started playing 1 minute ago," but in reality that was its way of saying, "Left a now-playing status 1 minute ago." The booting down one no longer shows up for me. Signing out my profile in-game from its menu is the only way to force it.

It's strange, too, because my video apps seem to track fine. Hulu Plus, Netflix, Amazon, FOX Now, etc. I can start them up, then back out and "exit app" like I always did. And they will track their time just fine. Even though they are also no longer showing
a second "bookend" on the activity feed for me closing them out. So this problem seems to be related just to games? After quite a bit of testing on my end, and from my experience, it seems to be.

  10. It makes me feel a bit better to see others are having this problem but it saddens me that they haven't fixed it yet. I hope they get this fixed soon. I just got my Xbox One and loved that I could see my time played but it saddened me that I've played
2 days worth of games and none of the hours have been tracked. I mean at least I have the achievements right? I guess I'll just use the sign out trick until its fixed.....-.-

I'm also having issues with my time played not being tracked.

Just to clarify the steps needed to get time tracked until a fix is found, I need to sign out while I'm in the game, going back to the home screen then signing out won't track any time for the games I wanted tracked.

Also time used for apps seem to be tracking fine for me

Mister Quimby, I have sent you a PM as per your request. I hope it is of some help.

ShinUkyo, now you mention about the "bookmarks" I can see that as a very good valid reason. I noticed it no longer gave a second "played" status after quitting the game, but I never thought it could be reason behind the time not tracking until you said so.
Maybe they could add that back, but instead say "Player stopped playing Game 1 minute ago"

SLiSH83, you need to be careful when you do the sign-out trick in the main menu, some games sign you out automatically when you get back to title screen, but as long as you stay in the main menu and don't go back to title screen everything should be fine.
Best time to sign-out is when you know that the game has saved, it don't have to be in the main menu.

Some interesting thing i have found, the new games with gold title, Guacamelee has the option to exit the game in the main menu, if you use it to quit the game - your played time will track.
