I have no idea why it broke it just did a few months ago. At first I thought it was my headphones but then I got new ones and I couldn't hear anything. Why did they break? Can I get a new one?

  2. Xbox One S and Official Stereo Headset Adapter not recognized

    Hi Zathrus,

    We have two of the
    Xbox Stereo Headset
with Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, and both sets have worked well with no problems for sometime now. And I have used the
adapter with non-Microsoft headset with no issues. So, given that you say your "3.5 mm cabled headset " works directly connected to the controller, then I regret to say it would seem that the fault lies with the adapter itself and may need to be replace.

The XBOX One accessories have a 90 warranty and from reading your post it appears you have had it much longer than that. Happy Gaming!

First off..... nothing breaks for no reason. Something happened to it... you may not be aware of what happened. Your mom may have stepped on it... etc...

    -

Second..... to use the word "entitled" in any thread on these forums is going to raise excitement... If it has warranty you should be able to exchange/return it....

    -

If this happened months ago, why is it an issue now?

This reminds me of the original X Box D.V.D. remote...

Was working a lot hours, and didn't have a lot of hours for gaming and watching movies. Went to watch a movie and the remote didn't work (Was like brand new and maybe used once or twice.); changed the batteries and still didn't work. Figured my mom must
have knocked it over or "stepped on it". Bought another. Months later that one didn't work and bought another. Flash forward just past the warranty and that one stopped working.

Called M.S. and was pretty tweaked about 3 remotes junking out in a short time with hardly any use; mom couldn't have POSSIBLY stepped on them all! Lol. After voicing my dissatisfaction (In a polite manner.) to the X Box rep, he gave me something to try...Pull
the batteries out, press each button twice starting with the top left of the controller, put the batteries back in and try it. It worked! He explained that static electricity builds up in remotes when not in use, and that pulling the batteries and pressing
the buttons discharges it. Found one of the other remotes and tried it, and that one started working also.

So it is "possible" that something "breaks for no reason". Lol. Now in the case of my headset recently breaking, that can be attributed to letting it hang from the controller to "unwind".

On a side note, the little trick I learned about the static buildup scored me a 360 media remote for a dollar! Was in a little game store where the owner just got in a remote that didn't work; offered a $1, took it home and "fixed" it. Just recently got
    rid of it.

    Peace, J.R.

It depends where you are in the world, the chat adaptors are rubbish quality, get the controller with the 3.5mm and save yourself a lot of hassle.
