My xbox one s will not show on my monitor?

I have not played on my xbox one s for about a month then when I went to go back on my Xbox I turned on my monitor and my Xbox and they both work but it will not show up on my monitor and my monitor screen turns black when my xbox turns on and all the
cords are plugged in. If anyone can help me please help

In particular this

Reset your display settings. Here's how:

If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.

On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.

Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep.
DO NOT LET GO until the second beep occurs.
Note This will boot your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To reset this setting, go to System > Settings in the guide, select Display & sounds, Video options,
and then TV Resolution.

It's also worth just double checking the HDMI cable is in the output HDMI port on the Xbox and not the input.

Probably this will be because a diferent Hertz frecuency between youer monitor and the Xbox, follow the steps that EggsBoxJuan mentioned and
you should fix this issue.

its work, on my S and X on my AOC monitor with a HDMI cable 2.0 i can set on setting at 120hz on old xbox one i can't try it because i don't own the old Xbox One. But i use it on my AOC monitor at 1080p@120hz on my XBOX one X.

you need a monitor that shows exactly 120hz in the edid information, if it shows 119.86 which a lot of monitors do then it will not work, there are monitors out that are designed to work with consoles now that have the exact standards.

pc can pretty much use anything, consoles can't.

My monitor supports 60, 75, 85, 90, 120, 144, 165, used this on my series s and 120hz works fine as 120 is exactly 120hz.
