    hi all, i have tried multiple solutions provided by Microsoft and kind internet strangers, however, my issue still persist.

    i have tried multiple 360 disc and dvd movies but my xbox one s doesn't even read it, however if i insert blu ray movies or xbox one s game disc, it read it perfectly fine. i believe this is not a hardware issue since the reader can still read from the blu
    ray but just that it doesn't read from dvd disc.

    i have tried all the suggested method like power cycle, change power setting and went through changing region setting in case it was region issue with the dvd, but until now its still the same and really annoys me so much since i live in malaysia and malaysia
    dont sell nor service xbox one s here, so i cant walk in to Microsoft store and seek assistance to repair this.

    is there anyone having similar issue or am i the only one with this problem.

    Microsoft , do help me as i use this xbox as my only media entertainment outlet in my home, please dont take a way the only joy i have in my home please..

    Problem reading dvd discs?

    Hey, guys, I'm having the same issue with my Xbox one not playing dvds. When I put the disc in the Blu-ray player app launches and then gives me this message. "We are having trouble reading this. Make sure it's a Blu-ray or DVD. If it's a game try launching
    it from your game & app instead ( 0x91d70000) ". It plays Blu-ray and game discs just fine.

    Hi,

    It could be that your Xbox One Blu-ray drive has a hardware fault, specifically with the diode it uses to read DVD discs. To test this, try playing a DVD movie in your console. The disc you test must be a DVD movie disc, not a Blu-ray movie disc.

    If the DVD doesn't read, but Xbox One and Blu-ray discs read fine then your console has a hardware fault and can no longer read Xbox 360 and DVD discs. There isn't a user fix for this, they only option is get your console repaired. Sorry.

    This doesn't seem right. Blu ray players play dvds just fine. PS3 plays PS2 games just fine. So an xbox with a blu ray drive should play 360 dvds just fine unless they go the route sony did and disable backward compatibility through software means.

    Nope, not quite right.

    Original Xbox - DVD

    Xbox 360 - DVD (or more specifically, DVD-9).

    Xbox One - Blu-ray

    Xbox One S and X - UHD Blu-ray drive, but games still on standard Blu-ray.

    Scarlet will have a UHD BD drive so that can still play all formats of movie discs. Likely that games will be on 100GB discs.

    Verify that your consoles drive is functioning. Try playing a DVD movie disc, not a Blu-ray disc.

    If your console will not play DVD then the drive has hardware fault.

    There are two lasers in the blu-ray drive. One for reading DVD and Xbox 360 games and another for Xbox One and Blu-ray discs.
