My Xbox One Makes Me Hate My Xbox 360

Still playing mine, only place i can play RPGs still got games to finish off tho Dark Souls is boring my face off with the constant re running but still plenty of life in the 360 old dog, my xb1 doesn't stay on for long at the mo i am at a dry stage with
it, probably pick back up when minecraft, halo and maybe sniper elite are obtained lol

I too miss the steaming capabilities of the 360, I had 2TBs of movies on an external HDD directly connected to my 360 that was essential to my daily living. It seems a bit myopic to not have these features included in the Xbox One, or a [tin foil hat] conspiracy
to get us to use Xbox Videos the way Sony and Apple try to push their services. My problem is that I only have a Mac at my house and from what I read so far the streaming only works with Windows PCs. The Xbox One was probably rushed out but that is no surprise,
Sony & Nintendo did the same. I have faith in the Xbox team to add these functions in future updates and to improve on the overall functionality, they probably had a list of feature they wanted and had to cut some in order to make the launch date.

Must say I agree with you here as I have had the exact same experience. There are some real shortcomings in what was supposed to be one of the main features of the XB1.

I have an update concerning the XB1 Live TV freezing. Here is a copy of a post I made in a thread I started:



It appears as if I may have 'solved' my freezing problem and to a certain extent my picture quality problem.



I can't claim any superior reasoning in my solution. Between testing Live TV and switching back to connecting my STB directly to the TV I became rather tired of the process required to switch the STB HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input so I ordered a
one to two powered HDMI splitter from Amazon. I figured that I could use one output for testing and the other to 'really' watch TV.



I connected the STB HDMI output to the input on the splitter, ran one output to the original TV HDMI (4) input for the STB and ran the other splitter output to the HDMI input on the Xbox One. The Xbox One HDMI output goes through a 2 to 1 switch. The other
input to the switch is my Xbox 360. The output of the switch goes to HDMI 3 on my TV.



Since I installed the 1 to 2 splitter I have had absolutely no problems with the TV signal. I know that I've only been at it ten hours or so, but in that time I haven't had a single freeze or even a minor hiccup and I couldn't go two minutes without a hiccup
prior to installing the splitter.



My XTB is set to 720p, HDMI audio.



My settings on the Xbox One are:

• • Troubleshooting->Surround Sound(Beta) is checked.
    
  • Optical audio is set to DTS Digital Surround. This audio is routed to my Logitech 5500 speaker system via an optical switch. I do not use the HDMI audio from the XB1, but the XB1 HDMI audio is set to 5.1 uncompressed.
    
  • Power mode is set to Instant-on

If the failures start happening again I will again post to this thread. If you don't see an update from me then the setup is still working well.

 

Yeah I'm the same haven't really touched mine since launch. I will dl the free ones but haven't played them. I let my youngest son use it in his room now. The controller does t even feel as goose as the x1 controller IMO.

Definitely hard to go back to it since my One. The main reason I kept it was because of hbo go. If the X1 would have had that at launch or soon after I probably wouldn't have a 360.

 

i won't say hate, but i avoid using it now, sooooo slow, and the controller feels weird. but i have to keep it at least until Mass Effect is released or my wife will kill me in my sleep 0_o;

 

Just as long as it doesn't hate you back.

Maybe it will conspire with the Xbox One and deal with you.

Nope.

The 360 Slim has proven it's worth many times over. Thus it is assured a spot in my man cave for decades to come.

 

Goth, I'm in EXACTLY the same boat as you right now...

 

I play on both about equal...... Maybe the 360 a tiny bit more.

 

For the the first time since Christmas I powered on my 360 and for the first time in probably 8 years I played Gears 1 and had a blast.

 

I traded mine towards the XBOX ONE in November 2013 and I don't miss it at all. I wasn't using it much for a couple years anyways.

 

Funny because I really fancied playing Gears the other day, unfortunately I think we only have Gears 3
