My Xbox One isn't Silent - Noise issues, not just fan. Please help. :(

Okay, this is going to be a long post. I've had my Xbox One since mid September, I bought it kinectless. I had the common issue a lot of people had called the 'coil whine', it was very loud but I never got around to taking it back to the shop I bought it
from. Then the October update came out. This 'fixed' the coil whine issue. Except for me I don't think it did. It's quieter for sure, but I can still hear the coil making a high pitched noise, a lot quieter than before but it still makes one.

I know what a fan sounds like and I can hear the fan. but I always hear a high pitched crying/whine noise above it. I have pretty sensitive hearing so sounds like this bother me greatly. I've read so many different statements online, some people say their
Xbox One's are silent, some say theirs are noisy. Is it supposed to be silent? Mine is not. I can't really play games on it or even use it due to this noise. It's a subtle noise, but I can always hear it over everything else due to its tone. For example, my
PC is louder than my Xbox One, but my PC just has a loud fan, my Xbox One has the fan and a whiny noise over the top of it. Why? it this normal?

The noise I describe happens 24/7, no matter if I'm playing a game or not. It's just there always louder than the fan itself. If the fan speeds up and gets louder so does the noise. I tried taking it back to my local shop I bought it from, but they refused
to take it back, saying it's supposed to make that noise and saying it was the fans. Is the Xbox One's fan really supposed to make a high pitched whirring noise? Fans do not make that noise, fans usually make a low humming sounds, which I can hear perfectly
and that's fine, this noise has been annoying me since I got my system. My last hope is to send it back to Microsoft and hope they send me a new/refurbished one. I don't want to send it if it's a waste of time though. Even as I type this, I can hear it, if
you put your ear up to it, it's loud. I can easily here a whirring noise over everything else. No way it's supposed to sound like that. Please help Also, for the record, it is not the power brick. The noise comes from the big fan/grill part on the top of
the Xbox One system.

Can anyone give me any advice? I have tried my best to explain the noise. I don't own a camera so I can't record the noise unfortunately. I just want to enjoy the system, the 360 was super loud, but I was fine with that as it was just fan noise. This isn't.
It's so annoying I can't use my system for more than 20 minutes.

Returning the first Xbox I hope this is the last

My old one was pretty well silent. The new is not necessarily "loud" but noticeably more fan noise.

Same... For me xbox one is not silent ... When the disc is in the drive the noise level is much more of ps4...,and the fan also make Little squeaking noise

 

I would go to shop and either:

a) ask them to start another x1 from their units and compare

b) bring a friends xbox to shop and show them, assuming testing it at home by you it does not have this noise

I read plenty posts about noisy fans over the last two months here - so I would say your problem is "ligit".

I only have 360, not x1.

Good luck - if your shop does take the easy lane don't shop there again.

 

I'm on my 4th Xbox One all having loud clicking Issues.

 

Mine is not silent. I can hear the fan spinning and get louder when i play games. as you describe it. still cant understand if its normal..

Yep Same issue after getting 4 Different Xbox Ones some from different batches.

 

I don't know maybe its supposed to be normal.. We need more people to let us know if they have the same issue. My tv is not that big so i stay very close to the tv and to the xbox when im playing and thats why i can hear the noise clearly. But if i am a
few meters away from xbox i cant even notice the sound. Probably a lot of people have the same issue but they have never noticed the noise because they are not that close to their xbox to hear it. Sorry for my english but u can get what im tryn to say.

 

I would send it in for repair it doesn't sound normal it might be a fan issue.

 

mines doing a loud noise & then my xbox one locks up & have to

unplug it

 

Just spoke with a chat rep, it appears there is no fix unless you send in your xbox for a $135.00 repair fee. This is assuming you are out of your one year warranty. They told me to put it in power saving mode and plug it directly into an outlet, this helps
with making the whine go away after you shut it off ( it still takes a few mins for it to stop).
