    My Xbox One isn't reading the discs...


    I just bought this console in December of 2014 and now it's having issues with reading the discs... I have to literally take it out and put it back in the console several times before it will read the discs. Discs are clean, no scratches or marks. This system
    isn't that old and it's not in a tight place so it doesn't get hot. What's the issue???

    One temporary quick fix that can be used is to hold the disc for a second while it starts to pull the disc in. This doesn't always work, but usually makes it so that the console will read it the first time. You just have to hold the disc while it's being
    pulled in for about 1 second, then let it go.

    I understand that you are frustrated and unhappy with the situation. Although I can understand your discontent, let me recommend some suggestions that could help you solve the disc reading problem on your Xbox One S.

    Clean the disc Make sure the disc is clean and free of marks or dirt. Gently wipe the disc with a soft, lint-free cloth, moving from the center toward the edge. Avoid using chemicals such as abrasive cleaners as they could damage the disc.

    If the problem persists with a particular drive, try trying other drives in your Xbox One S. If other drives work correctly, the drive in question may be damaged or have compatibility issues.

    Xbox One X only reads XB1 game dvds

    Hi,

    The optical drive in the Xbox One is a Blu-ray drive. Xbox One discs are on Blu-ray disc, same as HD Blu-ray movies. Xbox 360 games came on DVD disc.

    Oversimplifying my explanation a little, the Xbox One has separate lasers for reading DVD discs than it does for reading Xbox One blu-ray discs.

    The laser that is used to read DVD's has failed. This isn't a software issue, it's a hardware one. Unfortunately you can't fix this yourself, you'll need your console repaired. Sorry.

    anyone else on their third or more XBOne within the first year?

    I'm on my third one which is starting to fail. The Disc Drive is getting exceptionally loud now... still reading and works fine as long as a disc isn't in... but I didn't buy an Xbox to have something that can't play discs!
