My Xbox one is updating full games rather than just installing the updates

Right, so I'm having a problem when it comes to downloading updates for my games, when a game update or patch comes through.

Rather than just downloading the game update which will be like 200mb, it will download the entire game which will be like 30+GB just to update the game.

For example, I have just bought destiny 2, installed the game fine, launched the game and it came on screen saying 'Destiny 2 needs an update of 5.9GB' so I clicked update, went to my games and apps, went onto updating and it said updating 0.00mb of 34.9GB.
This happens on all my games, even games that I have downloaded from the Xbox store.

Genuinely don't know what I can do, I've reformatted my external hard drive to see of that would solve it and it's done nothing, so I don't know how to resolve this issue, any help would be appreciated

Xbox One problem with updating and installing.

Well it works fine on a different internet (at my sisters home) but I'd much rather not change my own internet plan, so unless there is a way to make it work with my internet my Xbox One is officially useless.

I just don't understand why everything worked just fine before June and everything still works fine except installing and updating games, system updates for the Xbox One download just fine though.

Appearing to have the same issue here.

Last 2 Destiny 2 updates appear to be doing full installs of the game since it is taking a LONG time (15+min) going through the "verifying content" step. This is post download/install time once game has been relaunched.

Hung a few minutes at 13% then again at 96%.

Then finally completed.

 

did you manage to get the problem fixed, I just had the same with Fifa 18

 

I'm having the EXACT same problem with all my games that require a update. Destiny 2 updates just about every other week and it will tell me I need a 48mb update but it downloads the ENTIRE 36GB game EVERY OTHER WEEK!

Just noticed that I needed an update for Halo 5 and at this moment it is downloading the ENTIRE 107GB Game. Earlier this evening Dishonored 2 needed an update (dont recall the update size) but it downloaded the ENTIRE 54GB game.

MICROSOFT, Whats UP with this???? How do we correct this. None of my XBL friends I've spoken to have this issue!!
