My Xbox One is refusing to read games

I have had a Xbox since it was first released and have been on xboxlive for over 12 years.

I pruchased two X1 units for my family. A couple of weeks ago one of them stopped reading game disks. After hours of troubleshooting, I decided to have it replaced. I recieved the replacement last on the 4th of Sept. On Saturday the second X1 stopped
reading game disks (after waiting for chat support (40 minutes of hold time) and nearly one hour of troublshooting, I had to stop the support call because it was after midnight. Yesterday I called support (hold time 37 minutes). Then I spoke with the tech
support guys and did more troubleshooting. Before I called I knew that I would be ordering another replacement unit.

I am not happy with how both consules failed in the exact same way, back to back.

And to top it off, last week I purchased 2 copies of Destiny along with the expansion packs ($200.00+).

Thats over $1,000 out of my pocket. $416 for the first unit $201 for the games and now another $416 for the second unit. Of course I will get the $800 back minus the shipping. My family is very disappointed with the current generation of Xbox.

 

just spoke to xbox support on the phone. I have the same issue, but here's what the options were that the xbox support guy gave me:

- Try another xbox game (not an option: don't have another xbox one game disc)

- Have the xbox replaced; but it would take two weeks

This is insane...my xbox one is just one day old and the game (battlefield 4) is also brand new. bought it yesterday. I really don't get it that replacing my brand new day one xbox would take two freaking weeks.

 

Picked up our XBOX ONE last night with Destiny at the midnight launch. Set up & updated, but getting the disc read error on all disc formats, even CDs. From reading this thread, it seems pretty certain that even a replacement console will have the same problem.
PS4 here we come......

 

Yep, totally having the same problem. This is even after I sent it in to be repaired for this exact issue a month ago. Just got Destiny and the pass, but can't play. Beyond *** at this point.

 

Microsoft won't just throw away those consoles people returned/exchanged a patch will be released eventually for it or just go digital and return your game now a lot of people are still getting these messed up consoles cause some stores just kept them and
boxed them up and resold so Microsoft can't get away with an apology and send my broken xbox back it works well perfect except disc this is a twisted joke

 

My console failed after one month of owning it with probably less than 3 weeks of playing time. Now I'm dealing with the long turn around time to get it repaired. It should be here by Thursday lets see how that turns out. As much as i don't want to do it
il be giving ps4 a go to see how things turn out with that. Hopefully Micro$oft gets this mess sorted out then i might return. No one likes spending a lot of money on something and it spends more time at the shop getting repaired than doing what it was bought
to be used for.

 

I am expected my X1 replacement today. Yesterday I went and picked up my 2 pre-orders of Destiny. I installed the game on one X1. The other had not been used since Saturday when it started acting up. I put the second Destiny game in and to my surprise
it read the game and installed it properly. I was able to play the game for a couple of hours.

One solution may be to turn the system off or just play digital copies of the game. I still plan on returning the consule for that it can be repaired.

As far as replacing it with a PS4... I was at the store yesterday and people were returning them also, one guy dropped off a custom wrapped one and told the clerk he could do what ever he wanted to with it and left.

But then again I saw some *** off college guys walking in with a X1 and they said that the DVD wasn't working. I left it at that.

 

Shame on you Microsoft, shame on you Still having problems playing bluray movies...

 

Okay, so returned the unit to Game, who exchanged no problem, but said they knew nothing of the problems caused by the update.

Console #2 seems to be working. Destiny installed but wouldn't launch, so uninstalled and tried again and it appears to be happy.

Less so me. Seriously, MS, a £300+ piece of kit simply should NOT be this flakey. What on earth were the R&D people doing all that time?? God I yearn for the days of the N64, Megadrive, PS1/2 - buy console, plug it in, insert disc/cartridge, play game. Which
bit of that process did MS think wasn't working?? I suspect we'll see Sony with a monopoly in the games market by the end of the next console cycle.

 

good thing I didn't get an xbox one yet. I was really thinking about getting one too, but now that I found this forum, and see that everyone is having problems witht he disc drive, thank God I didn't get an xbox one. I guess its always going to be this way,
first generation of a console is always going to have problems. I wonder how the ps4 doing.

I really wanted to play destiny on the xbox one too lol but I guess ill be keeping that on the 360 for now till Microsoft comes out with a different version of the xbox one that doesn't have any problems

 

Just got a brand new console delivered today to and it won't read any discs. I went to MS chat and they said it was damaged during shipping. I referenced this thread and all of a sudden it was a known issue that they're fixing.

I tried to get an RMA from Newegg but since the console was bundled with Destiny they won't refund the full price.

No games, no money. Disappointing. If you're not going to give us consoles that read discs, at least give us digital codes so we can play something.

 

hey got my xboxone at launch and was jaming destiny but switch the game to ghost and got the error message when i changed back to destiny the same message poped up now all my games are getting it need help man

 

wow, so the problem has gone too far... even day one consoles are being affected? now i am scared to turn on my x1 next time. :s

 

im getting this error code 0x80820003 - 0x45 any help man

 

Bought the console today brand new from Game, unboxed it, plugged it in, followed setup and updated console. It won't recognise
any type of disc - 0x80820002 error.

Taking it back tomorrow for a full refund - not happy at all.
