My Xbox One is refusing to read games

Sorry for all the trouble you guys are having. I'm borrowing and XB1 from my cousin but plan to get the Sunset Overdrive bundle. If this isn't ironed out by then I'll have to stick with the PS4.

my xbox one is refusing to read my discs after the power reset and in power saving mode why??? the discs work on other consoles as well

 

Xbox live connection terrible and sporadic

Well, now we can watch Netflix streaming on the Xbox, but it is refusing to read any game disks. Maybe the Xbox unit itself is having issues, not the wifi?

 

Hi, I've owned Watch Dogs since it came out & had it fully installed the xbox one. I recently put the disc in (yesterday) & it refused to work. It initially attempted to re-install itself although it was already fully installed, & kept having 'installation
stopped' messages pop up. It also initially had a 0x80070002 error come up, so I un-installed it, powered it down & attempted to re-install it. It now continues to have 'installation stopped' and 'installation started' messages pop up, & now comes up with
a 0x80970915 error. I have attempted the power down cycle numerous times, other discs work fine & I'm at a loss. Can someone please help?

 

A friend of mine has the same problem, his console keeps telling him to insert a blu-ray disc, etc. I think the blu-ray drive is just on it's way out.

 

I'm having this problem too. Got an email offering advanced exchange and $22AUD refund and a 1800 number to call. Call them, they say no advanced exchange available and to call microsoft store where I purchased it. Call them, and they said they have to make
an exception for me as advanced exchange is not available in Australia and that it will be 3-4 business days going through the escalation process. But, the email quoted an AUD amount of money and even provided for the difference in exchange rate AND told me
I could get an advanced exchange.

This is ridiculous. I have had nothing but problems with microsoft since ordering. Firstly, the store doubled up on orders and charged me for 3 xboxes which took forever to be figured out (2 hours on chat with reps lieing to me and not doing their jobs)
and then 2 hours on phone. Got my xbox a week later with nil ability to play disc-based games. Contact support who said an update will fix it. Get the email as I described before a couple days ago and now this.

I'm so tired of dealing with crappy customer support where one hand can't find the other and no one can solve a problem. I am going to return this console and never buy Microsoft again.

Extremely disappointed.

 

Just bought a Forza 5 bundle and am having the same problem. It won't read a brand new Titanfall disc or any of my DVDs. Keep getting the 0x80820002 error. I ordered online, waited a week and a half for it to get here, and now it simply won't do the thing
it was designed to do. Since I ordered an online only bundle, I doubt I can return in store, which means another few weeks of waiting. If they won't swap me out in store, I hope I can at least get on the advanced exchange train from Microsoft.

 

Unlike people constantly getting this msg, I get it very randomly. (Happening once a week or so) and when it does happen it makes a slight grinding noise, followed by Error code 80820002. But then again, only really happening once a week or so.. What are
anybody's thoughts on this? Should I go ahead and request a repair or should I just wait to see if it gets worse?

From what people are saying the Aug 19th update causes the drive to fail completely, why is mine doing it randomly and not often?

 

Any updates to this ? it is clearly a firmware issue. MS People wake up , dont feed the community *** about laying the xbox on a flat surface......

@ReikiCharged I know that the grinding sound clearly isn't a good thing. I would advise you to contact Xbox Support, to see what they advise. (Probably they advise a repair/replacement)

@Badgerman7 Your issue seems to be a hardware issue and different from the issue mentioned in this thread, which only affects game discs. In your case the console needs to be replaced. Depending on the country you are from, the store should allow you to
exchange it for a working one. Otherwise you need to set up a repair/replacement via Microsoft.

 

It would be nice if MS would confirm if this cant be fixed with a patch instead of keeping their customers in the dark.

I havn't tried a physical game disc to see if im affected but I get Destiny on tues and if it doesnt read the disc I will be fuming!

 

Ok I spoke to a ms sales person I can't return my console I'm 60 miles away from a fedex I have a local usps but I don't know how the to use then to send it to fedex and pay all this extra cash now I told him I'll keep my broken xbox one I'll buy advance
warfare digitally and buy me a ps4 as my main console I am done with Microsoft they have been bombing

 

Today I followed the instructions to return my xbox one due to it no longer reading disc.... the xbox support site stated that if I were to pay for shipping through xbox that the fedex store would supply me with shipping material for free... this was not
the case when I arrived at the fedex store and was charged an extra 21.00 dollars for materials on top of the 10.56 I had paid via xbox to print out the shipping information...

 

Destiny is out in a few days and I won't be getting my Xbox back until the 20th due to this extremely annoying problem. Very unhappy at the moment, had it pre ordered and everything. Haven't been this excited since halo 3 and now I have to sit this one out.
Very unpleased microsoft, I feel dirty holding this Lumia in my hand now.

 

I too had to pay roughly $20 for FedEx to pack up my xbox. Does anyone else remember when Xbox would actually send you that perfect white box to send in a repair? What happened to that?

And I feel ya on the Destiny issue. Frickin ridiculous. They shouldn't be doing a repair. They should just ship out all new xboxes because of the problem if this many people had it. Makes me want to cancel my Destiny pre-order badly, but I think it's too
late now.
