My Xbox One has stopped reading DVD

Hi community,

I need your help with a problem I have been having with my Xbox. From a few weeks ago, it will not play DVD or allowed me to play Xbox 360 games with backwards compatibility.

When I try to play one of those games as I did before, I would get error 0x82d40004 please insert disc, even the disc is in. Same result when I try to play dvd with the playing app.

The Xbox one games work perfectly, so I doubt it is a lens/reader problem

Some fixes that I have found in this forums, that I have tried unssuccesfully:

* I have tried with multiple Dvds, so it is not a problem of scracthed DVD

* Update the console

* Reset to factory settings

* Tried change configuration to energy saving/instant and backwards

* Logoff from my user account, delete it and log back in. The problem also ocurrs with other user accounts.

* Reinstall both the DVD Player App and the backwards compatible games

* Remove the persistent storage

* Change the regional settings to multiple combinations

At this point I am helpless, so any advise will be appreciated

Okay do not worry! Have you tried Switching your console to Offline Mode?

Thanks a lot for your response, indeed I have tried this method too, and the issue remains unsolved.

Please note, as a note of reference, when I introduce a DVD, you cant hear the usual reading sound that the reader unit does when an Xbox game is introuced

I have experienced this issue with the last 6-8 Alpha Skip Ahead OS previews.

I've reported this issue using Report a Problem several times on my new Xbox Series X.

It always occurs after restarting console from Instant on.

A simple restart of the console from the Power menu or a Full shutdown resolves this issue for me.

I've had recent issues with noise and disc drive not being recognised on my Xbox Series X and the only way I found to stop this issue is to do a Full shutdown of the console and restart.

Settings>System>General>Power...>Full shutdown.

Its worthwhile removing power cable from console for a few minutes after you shutdown before you restart.
