    My Xbox One has no HDD anymore


    Hi,

    My hard drive for my Xbox One was removed because it wasn't working properly. I was trying to then attempt to upgrade it.

    Although now when I turn it on, nothing shows up on the TV. I am wondering whether its because there is no hard drive in it or some other reason?

    HDD failure

    My xbox will not load up my profiles from my HDD anymore. It also freezes on start up with the HDD plugged in. From what I can gather, this means the HDD has failed and I need a replacement. It still shows that there is only 36.4gb of free space, so I

    Yes, you will. The OG Xbox LIVE has been shut down a while ago. It does not matter from Disc or HDD, there is no OG XBL anymore.

    The operating system resides on the hard drive, so if you don't have a hard drive, your Xbox has no idea what to do when you turn it on. Opening the case voids your warranty, so if you opened your Xbox and modified your system, you won't get much help from
    Microsoft on this issue.

    Alright. Yeah I did open it obviously so yes the warranty is voided. What options then do I have to fix this? Can it still be operational with some sort of external hard drive?

    At this point anything you do to try to repair it would be a violation of the terms of service and cannot be discussed on the forums.

    As Ken said, the internal hard drive has system files that the console requires. You would not be able to get those files on the external so the console will not run properly without the internal.
