Stolen xBox

My home was recently robbed and one of the items that was stolen was my Xbox. I don't have the box or serial number, but I still have access to my xbox.com account and I changed the password. We filed a police report and I was wondering if there was a
way Microsoft could help me track down the unit if it were to be connected to the Internet. It would be great if we could track where the xbox is since it would lead to details on the other expensive items that were stolen at the same time. I really need
some help!

Any additional details on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to find the serial number online?

My Xbox 360 got stolen and the police told me they need the serial number to track it. Is there a way to find out the serial number based on past transactions? Or is there a different way? Any help would be appreciated..

You should probably call MS support and ask them. They may be able to disable the Xbox entirely. as far as tracking the IP, probably isnt going to happen. You should take steps to protect your information first and make getting the Xbox back a secondary
priority.

There is no way to lock the console or disable it however if you had your profile on the console and had it to where it did not require a password to sign in, then you will be able to see on your account if anyone does log in. By logging into your account
at http://account.live.com you can check the Recent Activity and successful log ins will show the device/IP address/map location of the login. This may be of use for your police report/recovery of the
console but I would suggest changing the password so that it's unable to be signed in on.

First thing you need to do is change your Live password to prevent unauthorized use and purchases on your account.

Microsoft COULD help you, but they make it difficult, if not impossible. My Xb1 and 360 were stolen. I don't have the Ser# to the 360, and MS says there is no way they can get me that info. Sure, like they can't look up my usage data and tell me the ser#.

So even if I could track down my stolen 360, I can't prove it's mine, because MS won't tell me what serial number I had (I didn't realize you had to register your consoles with MS. It seems when you set the Xbox up the first time, they'd do that.)

Due to the lack of any help from MS, and having already bought an XB1, I think MS is pushing me into choosing a PS4 as my replacement console. Nice job, MS. Won't do something as simple as tell me the serial number of my old console.

You should file a police report about your console and have the police work with Microsoft to track the stolen console

I did not see this thread or I wouldn't have started my own. Has anyone had Microsoft give them a straight answer as to where their Xbox One actually is at the moment? The 'Chat' people told me (twice) it was en route to FedEx but it's been in transit for
10 days now. MS says "shipped to customer" and FedEx says they don't have it. I'm about ready to assume it was stolen and file a police report. Maybe the McAllan police department can find it.

When console theft happens thats not an issue with Xbox

That's between you and the police

If you file a police report and the police asks Xbox officially with a subpeona they can have the ipinfo if the account logs in

There have been cases where police goto xbox to find a stolen console and find them

It depends if they go thru the correct police proccess

Ms nor any company cannot hand out info without due proccess To law enforcement

[/quote]MS can, provided that the police contacts them. There have been cases where the police was reluctant to contact MS because they weren't aware MS could do anything (or at least that's how the article read). Once the police contacted them, the person
got their console back.
