My Xbox one doesn't read my external Hard-disc

I've got some questions for you!

Is your external drive not detected at all when connected to the Xbox? Is it able to be detected on a computer? If you are able to see it with a computer, try reformatting the drive as NTFS, and see if the Xbox recognizes it now.

Also, in order for an external drive to be used for storing and loading games, please note that the requirement is that it must be USB 3.0, and at least 256GB in size. Is it using a USB 3.0 connection?

It recognises the external hard drive and all my games are on there and when I unplug the hard drive and put a disc in. It still doesn't do anything.

Basically the Xbox 360 would read games from the disc and you wouldn't need to install the games to the 360 hard drive if you had the disc.

On Xbox One, you need to install all games to the hard drive (or an external hard drive) regardless of if you have the disc or not, or if it's a backwards compatible game.

So I did further investigation lol and learned that i don't have the digital version but the disc one. The missions that I deleted were the missions that come with the disc. So I have unplugged my external hard drive and am attempting to install the game
onto the xbox hard drive. If this works is there any way I can transfer my saved games from my external hard drive to the xbox hard drive?

Hey this worked for me on my day one Xbox ONE. Same issue doesn't read the game or blu ray. This sounds weird but when inserting the disc hold it and wait till it tries to pull it in and hold for about two seconds. After awhile you will notice the disc will
be sucked in a little bit faster (might be hard to notice) and then it begins to read. I have noticed if you just allow it to suck in the disc normally the disc goes and it doesn't even read or know the disc is even in there.

I never knew I had this problem till I purchased a second game and took the disc out for the first time which was a week after my crappy warranty ran out.
