My Xbox One Controller stopped working suddenly

I was watching Amazon Prime last night. I could pause and fast forward and check other things on Live home with no problem until I was ready to turn it all off and the controller would not respond. It had gone to sleep since I was watching a movie but when
I pressed the X to wake it up there was nothing. I changed the batteries three times but it is beyond belief that I had 6 bad batteries from a fresh package. I thought it might have lost the connection and pressed the reconnect but no light flashed. I connected
it using the USB port to no avail. The connector is effectively defunct. The One is approaching it's third birthday but that is not reason or excuse for dying suddenly and with no warning. The 360 is still trooping along after 9 years with the original controller.

So, is this a known problem? Is there a replacement policy for it?

Controller audio jack

Hi, on my xbox one controller my mic suddenly stopped working for no reason! I tried plugging in some different microphones and it wouldn't work. Without anything plugged into the controller the xbox is still saying that there is a mic plugged into the controller.
I don't know why this is happening as it was completely spontaneous! Please help!!!

 

Strange Headset Problems

the same thing happened to me it just suddenly stopped working my mic ive tried unplugging my xbox, updating my controller and it has not worked so i dont no if it has broken or its jst my controller someone please find a solution for this

I'm sorry to hear about the controller issues. Have you tried connecting your controller to the Xbox One console via USB cable yet? If not, try using a micro USB cable and plugging your controller into your console. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes or so to
essentially reset the controller. If it's responsive at that time, you should hopefully be able to pop some batteries in and be good to go. If it's still not responsive with a USB cable, your controller likely needs to be replaced. You mention that your console
is almost 3 years old. If this is the controller that came with the console, the warranty period for accessories has already expired. You can explore having it repaired via the
Online Service Center however there will be costs involved and many people find it easier to replace the controller.
