My Xbox One Controller is suddenly malfunctioning big time.

Alright so everything was fine up to today. It just disconnects randomly. The A button I have to press like 4 times. I start up battlefield, which by the way like I said, it takes 4 presses of the a button. Then when I'm in game, my gun stats shooting by
itself. I'm not even pressing the button. Not even grazing it. Same with the aim button - it's aiming by itself. It's not a game related thing as everybody seems fine except for me.

Then 5 seconds later, the controller disconnects. Now, I'm no noob. I've gamed for about 7 years now on 360 and One combined. Before you say, "its because you dropped it too many times", I've actually only dropped this controller once, and that was like
2 months ago. Batteries are brand new(energizer).

The thing is, I don't think it's a controller broken related thing.

The thing is - is that on the 360, if your controller was starting to malfunction, you could tell easily it was because of overuse. The buttons would get stuck, the analog wouldn't turn properly. But here, it's different. All the buttons seem fine, the analog
seems fine as well. All in all, the controller looks in perfect condition.

Any support to this? To put it in a simple way, it almost feels like somebody hacked my controller without actually touching it.

Controller issues

Well what kind of controller is this is it the original Xbox one controller or 3.5mm controller? If it is the original Xbox one controller it might be the controller malfunctioning with your Xbox because they are outdated.

 

Controller Issues

I've been experiencing a few issues with my controller.

If I leave my Xbox One unattended long enough that the controller shuts off, when I return the screen is frozen. I can't access the game, menu, anything. No response from any button input. I have to do a hard reset.

In the last week or so the right trigger vibrates every time I hold the controller guide button to shut off the Xbox One. It also vibrates when I accept a party invite.

Is my controller malfunctioning and needs replacement?

 

have you tried updating the controller from within settings?

 

Try a power cycle of your Xbox and make sure your controller has been updated via the settings menu. After this, try again, see if the problem persists. If it does, phone support, they will run some troubleshooting for you but should then arrange a replacement
for your controller.

 

Alright, might seem a dumb question, but how do you update the controller within settings? I never had to do this with 360.

 

Oh ok, found the update controller option, but it says connect usb cable to it. Where am I supposed to find a spare usb cable, I mean every usb cable i have is connected to something else.

 

You only need it while the update loads takes about 4 mins then that's it, unplug and put it back.

 

The "Controller Update" is only to configure it for a headset.

If you don't have the required headset you don't need the "controller" update.

 

Alright so I don't have a headset to configure. My controller problem still persists though. Interestingly, if I put a kinect sensor up in front of the controller, it reduces the problem by like 50 percent.

Any more help? And about my lack of faith, I guess I'm just super *** because I've had problems since day 1 and the crap just keeps piling on and on. I don't remember having any problems with 360 aside from RROD. In fact I would actually go back to 360 right
now, if it wasn't for the fact that I don't have any controllers for it.

So can anyone alleviate this controller malfunctioning situation for me?

 

I was having this problem pretty heavily like a week after I got my One. There is a giant thread in the support forums of controllers disconnecting for a second or two. Bought regular One controller and didn't have any problems staying connected. So paid
the $6 shipping to send it to MS and two weeks later got a new Day One controller back that worked perfectly. Something wrong with some controllers wireless hardware. Only temporary solution with the faulty controller was plugging it into console with a spare
USB cable.

 

Alright, I'll phone microsoft I guess, I just don't want to deal with their *** complete apathy.

 

i was under the impression that the controller update adjusted the sensitivity too.

"According to a Microsoft spokesperson, the controller tweak will be part of the February update to the Xbox One, and will automatically take effect when an Xbox One controller syncs with the console. Specifically, it will "increase the sensitivity of the
outer boundaries of the thumbsticks on the Xbox One controller.""

 

It's Sunday anyways, is microsoft support open on sundays?
