My Xbox one controller is moving way to fast all of a sudden!

hi,

I'm not sure if there has been an update overnight or something but today my controller is moving way too fast on the home screen to select anything. If I tap a direction key it jumps 2 or 3 spaces in any direction I press. The same with the thumb stick.
If I press a button it tries to press so fast it doesn't register the click properly. When I tried to turn off the controller using the controller it was trying to register the button press so fast that it would blink very fast but do nothing.

This is a new controller that working fine until last night. I took the batteries out plus did a console hard reset but neither worked.

Xbox One Goes Dim A Lot When Watching Something

I've been watching movies through my Xbox One for over a year and everything has been fine. Today my screen goes dim roughly every twenty minutes and I have to keep on turning on my controller and moving one of the sticks to brighten my screen. Why has this
started all of a sudden? It's not a fault with my Xbox One because when I looked on the internet about an answer to this I read about a lot of other people having the same problem all of a sudden where their same problem started two days ago. Does anyone know
how to fix this? The screen is supposed to go dim when the Xbox One has been idle too long. Why is it doing this all of a sudden when we watch movies? I looked everywhere in my settings to disable the stand-by setting and I found nothing. Thanks.

Why is my controller going up

My controller keeps looking up when I'm not doing anything. It just did this all of a sudden.

Is there any way I could fix this without buying another controller?

I too experience this issue and certainly it's annoying. I can't play any games. I should be playing right now but the controller doesn't want to behave :/

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Xbox controller.

As part of our initial troubleshooting, please power cycle your controller: Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds until the controller turns off. Wait a few seconds, and then press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on.

In addition, kindly make sure that you have the latest firmware updates installed:

Connect the controller directly to your console or Windows device using a USB-C cable (or USB to micro-USB cable for Xbox One controllers).

If the controller works properly with a cable connection, continue to the next step.

If your controller turns on when connected with a cable, try updating the controller firmware:

On a Windows PC, you can do this by installing the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store, and then connecting the controller while the app is open.

On an Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide and then select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Controllers & headsets. Select “…” under the controller that you're troubleshooting to check the firmware status.

should I just get a new controller?
