    My Xbox One console keeps telling me to "Please reconnect the controller or connect to a different controller and press any button"

    This has been happening while playing Red Dead Redemption II. This problem just started last night. I've switched controllers. I've put in new batteries from two separate battery manufacturers (yes, AA batteries). I presume the issue is with my console.
    Please advise. Thank you.

    Yea, I figured it out and went to "Systems" and then did a "soft re-set" and my problem was resolved. Thank you.

    Hey there k9 thanks for keeping in touch.

    The website hasn't been updated to the newest update from the console so "All Settings" isn't on there. Just go from System forward and let us know how it goes.

    Side Note: THIS WILL KICK OFF ALL PROFILES SO HAVE THE SIGN IN INFORMATION READY (EMAIL AND PASSWORD)

    I got out of the Red Dead Redemption II game and went to the Xbox One Home Page on my console. I no longer received the aforementioned messages.

    I'll try the "soft reset".

    Hey there K9 thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us.

    We suggest as a thorough troubleshooting step to do a reset of the console since the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a >Soft
    Factory Reset    < (while keeping games and apps and hardwire the controller)
    IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

    • There is a stable network connection.
    • The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

    Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup since this will push through any updates to the console and controller . Give it a shot and let
    us know of any changes!
