    My Xbox one cannot detect external hard drive after update


    After speaking to support for 2+ hours I have been sent here hoping to find a resolution to my problem.

    Turned Xbox one on for the first time in 6 weeks to be faced with a big update, which I (obv) had to apply. Since then my external hard drive which has been used with my Xbox one since purchasing cannot be recognized (from any USB port) I have of course
    tried other drives and all of the advice from support staff. I even master reset without any luck. The ex HD is whirling and drawing Its power from the Xbox but "no devices found" is the message when trying to use media player.

    I do hope someone has an answer and maybe a thank-you in advance

    system media player wont detect usb disks/hdd

    after update my xbox one wont detect any usb flash drives ir external hdd.i use them for only movies.it wont detect my flash drive 16g usb2.0,wont detect my usb 3.0 1t hdd or my 1t usb 2.0 hdd..

    my computer and tv will detect them fine...did update messed up media player??

    This same thing happened to me. When I contacted Customer support they told me that my console (under 2 months old) would need to be replaced, which they did under warranty. But now I can't seem to find my DLC that should have been brought over with my account
    to the new console

    I have this same problem but with an xbox one. Right after the update the external hard drive wasn't being detected. Tried with a brand new drive with the same result.
    Same here, a recent xbox os update broke compatibility with some external hard drives.

    My seagate 5tb media drive stopped being detected by my xbox one s.

    Drive checks out fine on a pc with no issues, however, xbox cannot detect the same drive.

    I purchased a new 5tb WD external drive and after formatting on a pc it was not detected by xbox os also.

    After 2 months of research I eventually fixed the extetnal drive not detected problem.

    I used the Western Digital quick format tool to format the external drive and it finally solved the problem.

    My 5tb media drive is now detected every time and the initial problem seems to be due to an xbox os update and certain partition types on extetnal hard drives.

    External Hard Drive Gone Missing

    Hi, I have the very same issue whereby my xbox one s & x does not detect external hard drives for media, even after been formatted on pc. All troubleshooting steps were followed and still not resolved. These were brand new hard drives out the box but my older hard drives works perfectly fine, was something changed via an update by Microsoft or what?
