my xbox networking adapter is not working :(

Hello. I have been playing online for about two hours this morning, and just now I disconnected from xbox live. This happens quite frequently so I just went to network settings. It says I have to have an xbox 360 wireless networking adapter to connect to
the internet. I have the 250 gb xbox 360 slim so this should not be true. Someone help?

1.Press the Guide button on your controller.

2.Go to Settings, and then select System Settings.

3.Select Network Settings, and then select the name of your wireless network.

4.If prompted, enter your wireless password (if required), and then select Test Xbox LIVE Connection. If you receive a connection error, scroll to the bottom of this page and click No.

Note If your are prompted to connect an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter, then the internal Wi-Fi is not working and the console needs repair. Start the repair process online

External wireless adapter

1.Attach your Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to the back of your console. Learn how

Note If you have a Kinect sensor and an original Xbox 360 console, use the wireless adapter extension cable to plug the wireless adapter into a USB port on the front of the console. Learn how

2.If a network cable is connected to the back of your console, unplug it.

3.Check the light on the wireless networking adapter:

i had the same problem,

at first it said i need a network adapter but i notice the modern and routers are fine. i then notices that my xbox slim had a dust built up so clean it out and reconnect the power and video cable, i turn it on and it work again. It finally connected the
xbox live and internet!

 

I had that same problem back when I had my slim, I sold it awhile back and I just recently bought one of the older modles that does not include the built in wifi adapter. now im in a place that I don't have access to xbox live but when I go home for summer
I plan on firing my account back up and playing. thing is I don't have the xbox network adapter for it. I have a small usb wifi adapter that I use for my pc back home. will that work if I just plug it into the back usb slot of my xbox and will it let be connect
to my network or am I gonna have to fork out 50$ for the actual xbox adapter?? please help i go home in a week and would like to know if it will work or not and if I need to get it before I come home. thank you
