question turning off auto-renewall

well my credit card has expired but for some reason i still have xbox live gold until march 03. now im trying to redeem a code and it wont let me because of some "past due balance"

here's the question: if i turn off auto renewal, will i still have xbox live gold till march until i have to pay again OR will my gold be terminated IMMEDIATELY upon turning it off?

This has really annoyed me, my security and everything was perfect before if there was any problems I would of said! My gamer tag is B1L4LUDD1N and for years i have used this successfully, then my actual Microsoft hotmail account got blocked for god knows
what reason and it got terminated and so I havnt been able to update my Xbox live account hotmail and now after this silly update I cannot get online! I have recentlwy bought a one year live and I am fuming at this point! It says something has gone wrong and
I have no control over it at all!
