My Xbox live account was suspended

I just received an email that my son has received a 14 day communications suspension. I would like further information on what happened so I can handle this situation in house. Thank you!

Am I screwed? suspended live account

I used a prepaid debit card that had $1 left on it to sign up for one of the "free month of xbox live" since I knew it was an auto-pay scam.
I thought once the month was up it would just drop me back to Silver since there were no funds.

But they suspended my account, so now I can't do anything online with my account, including redownload games I already bought.

Is there anyway I can change my account to silver instead of a suspended gold account without paying MS's extortion, or am I screwed?

Hi, note that the Xbox Enforcement Team deals strictly with enforcements, and they don't actually use or monitor these forums. I'd first recommend visiting https://enforcement.xbox.com to view all pertinent enforcement
information on the account.

Since this suspension is longer than 24 hours but shorter than permanent, it is eligible for a case review, which would allow you to contact the Enforcement Team directly. Note that if your son's account is set up as a child account with your account as
the parent account, you'll want to be signed into the parent account to complete the case review. For more information about the case review process: Xbox Enforcement | How Do I

Suspension of a player's Xbox LIVE account can be imposed because of inappropriate conduct or system abuse. Inappropriate conduct includes these kinds of actions:

1. Inappropriate in-game behavior (scamming or cheating)

2. Attempts to manipulate Xbox LIVE services through network interference, feedback abuse, complaint abuse, or other system tampering

When an Xbox LIVE account is suspended, the suspension blocks the suspended player from signing in to Xbox LIVE with the suspended account.

The duration of the suspension depends on the frequency or severity of the offense. A minor infraction may result in a temporary (rather than permanent) suspension.

Temporary account suspensions end at about the same time of day as when they are issued (at the end of the suspension period—24 hours, three days, and so on).

A message with the suspension end date appears when you sign in to Xbox LIVE using the suspended gamertag. Also, an email message is sent to the email address that is associated with your Xbox LIVE account.
