My xbox live account have two gamertag

To Techmod, im not trying to combine two gamertags really, just eliminate my currently unused gamertag that has a xbox live / windows live id / email address. The offline gamertag is my primary and i wish to make it my gamertag / widows id / email address.
The offline account with my achivments is the account i wish to have xbox live with. If i sign up with xbox live gold membership on my offline account, will this delete my other live account? How do i do this.

Same issue here. I'm trying to recover my GamerTag for a while this morning now but I receive the error message: "Xbox LIVE sign up is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

I am able to create a new profile (on Live) but unable to recover my GamerTag. I have tried it on two different XBoxs in two different locations. Cleared the system cache and removed and 'ghost account' of the account I am trying to recover. Live services
seem to be up and running fine but still unable to recover my GamerTag.

Sorry to hear you are running into this problem with the two accounts. Of course in regards to the Gamertag, you are not able to swap these out between the two accounts. In order to

change the gamertag you would have to actually pay to update it, But you won't be able to actually enter the same gamertag as it is already being used.

They should both have unique Microsoft Account (formely known as the Windows Live ID) email addresses, even if their alt email addresses and the Billing Contact email addresses are the same. If two gamertags have the same Microsoft
Accounts/Windows Live IDs, then you need to contact Support; see below.

Here is a
LINK that will guide you through that. If the tag is on an old account of yours then you will have to do two changes. One to get it off the old account and one to put it on your current account and there will be a charge for both.
