my xbox keeps turning off and has a faint buzzing sound

I was watching netflix on my xbox and all of the sudden the xbox turns its self off and i hear a faint buzzing so i unplug it, i plug it back in 5 mins later and i turn it on, it works for 20 seconds and does the exact same thing, what do i do? i really
dont want to have to buy a new one.

Xbox one S Buzzes when Off

My xbox one S makes a buzzing noise when it is off, it is faint, and can be heard if i put my ear to the top or right hand side of the console. It is not a fan, because the console is on full shutdown. Also the console makes slight noise
when I'm on the desktop. Is this normal? The buzzing sounds like a power adapter or something.

Make sure that there is adequate ventilation and that the vents on the console are not blocked and are clean. Once you have done that if it still fails you may consider setting your console up for repair. If you registered your console you can log in at

If it is a faint clicking sound when the console is powered off then it is perfectly normal, same goes for the controller with the buzzing sound when the controller is on. I have asked and researched about this as well and everyone who owns the console
says its normal.

The sound is not that loud so its normal

I had this through my 5.1 system. I turned off rating collection sound.

System>Console Settings>Audio>Ratings Collection Sound - turn this off

Buzzing stopped.

Is it constantly having a buzzing sound every time it is turned on? Does it also happened when turned off?

Normally, buzzing sound are coming from the electricity but as long as your Xbox is functioning properly, it should not be a big deal.
