MY XBOX IS HAVING TROUBLE READING GAME DISCS

needless to say i have some games that are scratched and some that are not. that's not the point my xbox 360 most of the time has trouble reading games. i did a couple of tests (mostly with game discs) first i tried halo reach it has a decent amount of scratches
no matter what i did not read the game then i put in halo 4 it had alot less scratches on it it too did not read then i put in gta 5( which is no less scratched up then halo 4) it read perfectly then i took it out put it carfully in its case turned my console
turned it back on put in gta 5 and it WOULD NOT READ! then i put in my minecraft disc which has abolutely NO DAMN SCRATCHES it might as well be in mint condition. it too does not read. i tried all methods of fixing my xbox but nothing seems too work. it makes
all the sounds it should make when it tries to read a disc nothing is stuck . my theory is that it could just be dying, it is a classic xbox360 and i have had it for about 5 years and i never mantained it and it is the most used of all my game consoles. it
could be mabye the laser is weak or wearing down it doesn't seem to have any trouble reading smaller games like fable anniversary or halo 2. should i just buy a new 360 or is there anyway to undo its wear and tear?

im having the same issue, are some games not reading and others working just fine? please reply dont want to get yet another replacement disc or repair my xbox 360.

Eliminate all the obvious solutions before parting with your console for repair.

• Basically to start some TLC is needed. Unplug your console and storage devices (sometimes USB devices can be a factor) blow/clean out the vents and ports. Be sure not to touch any connections, just use a dry dust cloth or vacuum or air can. When you’re
  done re-position both your console and psu somewhere with adequate ventilation.

It does indeed sound like the console is dying and in need of repair/replacement.

When you have scratched discs the laser can have trouble reading them. If you choose to get a new console I would recommend installing the games to the hard drive to help the drive last longer in the future.
