My xbox instantly turns off after the power button is pressed. I have tried every troubleshooting option you provide then some. Ive even tried with a brand new power cord and it still doesn't want to stay on. It is also making a consistent loud noise when it is plugged into a power source. Sometimes the light the won't even turn on but the "on" chime plays even though it doesn't do anything. It is a xbox one x

Sorry to hear about the issue. If you've already tried a different power cable and still doing the same thing, I am afraid that there's an issue with its hardware already and needs repair. You could try to directly plug it in to the wall outlet or different room if it does the same thing or not.

Is there a time you could startup your console just fine? Because we could try to perform a factory reset just in case it may only be a software issue.

every update just like you would on a PC.

Try restarting your console by holding the power button on your console for 10 seconds, press the power button again after a few seconds after it was turned off.

Hi, power the xbox and controller on, then press and hold the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds.

When the xbox powers off pull the power cord out of the back of the xbox and wait two minutes. Reconnect the power cord and press the power button on the xbox to power it on. Power on the controller and then try using the controller to power on/off the xbox.

This solution worked. Thank you!

For anyone else reading having this issue, I still had to re-sync the controller after going through the above process, in order to solve that problem. After turning on the Xbox one with the power button sync it the normal way by hitting the sync button
on the front of the Xbox One S, and then holding the sync button on top of the controller. Thereafter, the guide button on the controller will power on the console.

However, the above solution did immediately fix the fact that the controller wouldn't turn off when I powered the console off.
