    Im very very frustrated. For some reason my xbox has just descided to stop having sound all together. It started with spotify not wanting to play music then sometimes the audio would cut off alltogether once i fixed my Spotify issue. Menus wouldn't make
    sound and selecting things wouldn't make sound. Now nothing is making sound and i can't reverse it. I tried changing my settings, restarting my xbox, turning it off then back on, restarting my TV, reversing the HDMI cable, turning the volume up, plugging in
    headphones, and even went back and made sure my console was up-to-date. Nothing is working. Its like it just broke! But my xbox is only a few years old and my tv has no problems. Pressing the buttons to eject disks and turn it off/on still make sound and my
    tv still makes sound. Why won't anything else?? I even had my brother come in and look at it. Nothing is working.
    also idk what catagory this belongs in.. I've never had a problem with my xbox before! Its always clean and up to date. And the storage is never full.

    So how are we meant to use speakers with the Xbox One?

    My T.V only has digital audio output and my surround sound only has analog intput so i bought a digital to analog audio converter, so i have my xbox connected to my tv via HDMI then the digital audio out from the tv to the converter, then finally from the
    converter to my surround sound via a L/R AUX cable. That's how i get sound from the xbox to speakers.

    I have a MSI G241 monitor, a Xbox one X, and a LG Z407 Speaker. I have the speaker plugged into my monitor and HDMI for my Xbox. But the speaker isn’t playing any sound. How can I fix this?

    So the optical audio I need the Xbox connected to a TV? And if I want to use HDMI Audio I have to buy a receiver to hear the Xbox sound on my speakers?

    Lost Digital Audio after Update

    Miss Portia....the same error happened to me today. I updated XBOX live and lost audio through the HDMI connection. My XBOX is connected directly to my TV and the digital audio was previously being passed through successfully from my TV to my digital sound
    system. After the update I lost the pass through ability. Now the sound works only if I use the TV speakers and not my audio system. Please help. Thx!

    PS...I forgot to mention my XBOX is connected to the TV via HDMI and the TV is connected top the audio system via HDMI.....

    No audio via HDMI, tried multiple cables, ports and Tv's.

    Hi Crozier,

    This current tv (Sharp Aquos), seems to selectively disables the sound output to the optical link, when the audio mode is set to 'variable'.

    The Variable setting turns off the TV's speakers and enables the optical audio output. I use this setting for cable, Blu-ray & media pc all via HDMI.

    The 'Fixed' setting disables optical output and just plays though the TV speakers. Xbox sounds are audible in this setting, but just not though my home theatre.

    Perhaps the TV is managing the audio pass-though on some condition that's being met or the Xbox is disabling audio over HDMI for the same reason.

    I'm trying to figure out how to manipulate these conditions using cables or a HDMI switch device between the sources and the TV, that has an optical out on it.

    Let me know your thoughts - Ill post a solution as soon as apparent.

    Xbox Series X - I can no longer turn off hdmi audio since installing the september update

    Even though i use the dolby atmos app with my steelseries arctis 9x headset i can no longer turn off hdmi audio to my tv speakers

    all i get is an error message to check my audio receiver. irrespective of the headphones being powered on or not.

    its been working fine since launch, this started happening immediately after installing the september update on my series x

    windows sonic gives the same message if selected, as does dts:x for headphones

    nothing at all allows me to turn off hdmi audio to the tv speakers.
    I am having the similar issue, cannot change my audio settings. I just receive an error message when I try to change settings. Now my surround sound only works in 2.0 not full 5.1 surround sound
