Changing the internal hard drive goes against the Code of Conduct and you risk getting the console banned. Any warranty you had on the console will be void if you open the console.

Best is to use an external hard drive.

did you use the offline update after disc was changed?

Instead of removing the internal i would go external as it has less of a chance to produce an error and it's easier.
