My Xbox hard drive broke

So I was playing Xbox 360 one day and I was gonna update the software. Exactly as I pressed ok I accidentally turned my Xbox off. I turn it back on in a panic and my account and games were gone but the hard drive still said it had the memory on there. Yet
if I open the hard drive everything is empty. I've tried formatting and clearing the cache but it still says there is memory on the drive. I can not download anything because it says the memory is not formatted. Any advice would be helpful because I can't
use my thumb drives for everything.

Hard drive on XBox says "Unformatted"; this has worked in the past

Hi. My Xbox broke yesterday so I took the hard drive out from the broken xbox and put it into another xbox console. The error message said "Unformatted Hard drive". What can I do to recover the data?

just formatted my hard drive and its still saying unformatted i think my hard drive is broken and needs replacing

if i buy a new hard drive or Xbox do i need a data transfer cable to transfer from hard drive to hard drive?

but at the moment there is nothing on my Xbox hard drive to transfer

Would this be true even if using the same hard drive and a different console? As I'm having the same problem but with mine craft as my boys xbox is broke and they're currently using my xbox but their hard drive.

check hard drive make shur its not bad clear coh if driv is ok u my have to sead it to xbox i had a game do the same thing my hard drive was good but something in the box was broke

Right but if it broke while playing a game one would say the game broke the Xbox. The code is a general hard drive failure regardless.

On the side of the Slim, there's a latch thingy, you open it up and you can pull the hard drive out. When my hard drive broke, I opened it up, took out the hard drive, and put it in the mail...

to onyx62is- its a 250gb hhd bought with a bundle, its a xbox S . and yes i used the e68 steps but no dice.
