My Xbox Guide Won't Refresh

Recently when using my Xbox One S, I've tried to join a friend's party or just see who's online playing what. When I press the guide button and view my friends list, it shows people, parties, and activities that are not currently active. I'll try and view
a party (I can see the party icon represented by the three heads), but there is no party to view, much less one to join. It will say that a friend I know for sure is doing homework is in the middle of a ranked game of Rainbow Six Siege, or that I have friends
doing an activity that when I check back again later is the same thing. At first I tried changing my console's power down settings to energy saving, and that worked for a week. Now, I will turn off my console and the friends list is still un-refreshed from
my last successful refresh. I can never tell when my friends are on, and they can't see that I'm on. This is an irritating bug because everything else is functioning perfectly, and the most recent update has done nothing to fix this. As a side note, my brother's
account's guide works perfectly fine.

Besides the hard reset/power cycle, you can also simply update/refresh your 'Games & apps'-app by opening the guide (press the 'Guide'-/Xbox-button in the center on your controller once), selecting your 'Games & apps' by pressing the start-/menu-button and
press 'Refresh'.

 

Smart glass update

I have smart glass on my iPad which automatically downloaded an update today (7/22) which is described on the app store as "bug fixes". Now one guide which was working fine prior to the update won't load and crashes the app when I try to refresh it. Awesome

Odd that your brother's account isn't having issues. Since this popped up, have you given the steps to remove your profile from your Xbox One and then add it back a try? If not, give that a go and let us know the results

No, my problem is much more basic. I used to click on add friend and "voila" a message would be sent to the potential friend to accept my "friending". Now, I get a "sorry, try again" message.
