it would appear the the account you are using already used a trial code before or has had gamepass before. only 1 trial code per account can be used.

Wait what type of code is it

A code you paid for or one you got with a device that says Trial

If it's a free trial code then no if you already used xbox gamepass ultimatre

They are only for new accounts

If the console is new then you'll be able to access the trial by creating your account on the console itself. There are 3 x 1 month trials available. 1 per new account created.

If the console was purchased used then it is possible that the trials have already been used.

You should speak to the store you purchased the console from if you believe it to be brand new.

No you can't redeem the 1 month trial after purchasing GamePass. Also, if you redeem the trial code prior to purchasing GamePass and you purchase GamePass it will replace the trial and you will lose what days are left on the trial.
