My Xbox Controller Won't Stay On

I've purchased an Xbox controller from Ebay, it's a Patrol Tech controller for the Xbox one. It turns on but after 2 seconds it turns off again, I've tried fully charging the battery but it will not stay on even with fully charged batteries, but my other
controller can stay connected. The only way the new controller will stay connected is by actually having it plugged into the xbox through USB. As soon as I disconnect the USB it stays on for 2 seconds then cuts off again. I'm not sure what to do, can anyone
help me please?

Please make sure that your console is not plugged into anything else besides a WALL outlet. If you have your console in a surge protector, do not just unplug and re plug please follow these steps

Disconnect and reconnect your console's power cable

1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
   
2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 30 seconds.
   Important Be sure to wait 30 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
   
3. Plug the console power cable back in to a WALL outlet.
4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

Once you pair with your console it should always connect automatically unless you used it on another Xbox one console or a PC.

I want to clarify when the controller turns off do you mean the light on the Xbox button turns off completely, or does it disconnect and the light begins to flash?

Based on the troubleshooting you tried, it seems the controller you received from Ebay may be transmitting a weak radio signal if it's disconnecting or has a hardware issue in the battery compartment.

I would recommend starting off by hard resetting and
power cycling you Xbox. Follow that guide to perform a complete power cycle.

Let us know if it turns off completely or just disconnects so we can narrow down the issue.

 

Yes, the light on the xbox one controller turns off completely. I have to keep pressing the button to turn it back on then it turns off shortly after again.

Also to add, My main xbox controller says full when I checked the batteries on it, when I removed the same batteries and put them into the new controller it says Medium.

I do recommend you try other batteries, rechargeable batteries, different battery pack or you may need a new control.

From the sounds of it the console is not the issue, so it may just be an issue with the control.
